TPO - In the area that was once controversial about encroaching on the Han River, the Da Nang real estate and marina project (commercial name is Marina Complex) has begun to restart.

The Marina Complex project in Nai Hien Dong ward (Son Tra district, Da Nang city) is invested by Da Nang Marina Company Limited. This is a project that has caused a lot of controversy due to the area where embankments were built and soil was poured to encroach on the Han River. According to the reporter's records, in the past few days, machinery and equipment have been mobilized to the marina project area to bulldoze, clean up, and level the ground. The surrounding fence has been reinforced, however a detailed information board about the project has not yet been erected.

Speaking to reporters, the leader of Nai Hien Dong Ward People's Committee said that the project investor has sent a document to the district authorities about restarting the project. However, it is not clear how the project will be constructed and what items it will include.

Grass and garbage were collected and piled high inside the project. According to the leader of Nai Hien Dong Ward People's Committee, there are many vacant lots and abandoned projects in the ward, causing many difficulties in preventing social evils and ensuring security and order in the area. The Marina Complex project area is also a "hot spot", and the authorities have had a hard time arranging forces to be on duty to prevent social evils arising from the long-term abandonment of the project. The authorities hope that the projects will be implemented soon to both create an urban landscape and make it easier for the locality to manage and prevent crimes and social evils.

Construction machinery is cleaning up inside the project. Speaking to reporters, a leader of the Department of Construction said that the City People's Committee has just approved the investment policy for the project and the project is starting to restart.

It is known that the Marina Da Nang project has an area of ​​11.7 hectares (including land and water surface), phase 1 was implemented in 2016 with more than 100 shophouses built and distributed to the market. Phase 2 of the project was implemented in early 2019, however, when the project carried out the construction of the embankment near the Han River and leveled the ground, it encountered public reaction that encroaching on the Han River would affect the flow with many consequences.

After that, Da Nang authorities requested the investor to temporarily suspend construction to coordinate with relevant departments and agencies to review the legality and related procedures in construction investment and study project planning adjustments.
