More than 10,000 candidates finished the entrance exam to specialized grade 10 in Hanoi on the afternoon of June 12.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that this year, there are 11,283 candidates applying to four specialized high schools with specialized classes. The total quota for specialized programs of these schools is 1,750.
Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted has the most registered candidates - 4,127, followed by Chu Van An High School with 3,222, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted ranked third with 2,805, and Son Tay High School with 1,129.
Regarding the competition ratio, the English specialized class of Chu Van An High School has the highest - 1/30.97, meaning that out of 31 students taking the exam, one student was admitted. This class has a quota of 35, receiving 1,084 applications.
After the three general exams on June 10-11, today, candidates who register for a specialized class will take the exam in that specialized subject, except for the IT specialized class, which takes the exam in Math. The specialized exams last 150 minutes, while Foreign Language and Chemistry last 120 minutes.
Students can register for up to two schools (can be in the same specialized subject) or two specialized classes in the same school, as long as the exam schedules do not overlap. The admission score for specialized 10th grade is the sum of the scores of the three exams in Math, Literature, Foreign Language and the specialized subject score multiplied by a factor of two.
Hanoi's 2023 public 10th grade exam scores and benchmarks will be announced on July 4 and July 8-9. If admitted, students will enroll online. From July 18, schools that do not meet their enrollment quota will begin additional enrollment.
