On March 26, the Department of Home Affairs of An Giang province submitted a proposal to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to discipline Mr. Nguyen Viet Tri, former Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of the province.

According to the Department of Home Affairs of An Giang province, in early February, Mr. Tri was disciplined by the Provincial Party Committee in the form of a "warning" due to violations related to the implementation of projects and bidding packages won by Tien Bo Quoc Te Joint Stock Company and enterprises in the AIC ecosystem.

In addition, the former Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment also violated the principle of democratic centralism, Party regulations, and State laws by illegally intervening to help Trung Hau - Tong 68 Company in the process of applying for a sand mining license.

For this behavior, Mr. Tri was disciplined by the Central Inspection Committee in the form of "expulsion" from the Party.

Therefore, to ensure the correct disciplinary action according to regulations, the Department of Home Affairs of An Giang province proposed a general decision with the highest disciplinary measure being "removal of position qualification".

Previously, on August 15, 2023, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency prosecuted and temporarily detained Mr. Nguyen Viet Tri to investigate the crime of accepting bribes related to sand mining activities of Trung Hau Investment Joint Stock Company - Tong 68.
