The Ministry of Education and Training has requested that authorities investigate and clarify the responsibilities of individuals and organizations that post content that distorts the language in textbooks.
In recent days, social networks have been spreading a lot of information about some content that is said to be textbook materials such as "Pounding rice to cook rice", "Splatter", "Brave An", "Baby helps mother", "Drawing something difficult". Each post with an image described as a book page containing these materials has attracted from a few dozen to a few thousand likes and comments.
Many people re-shared the articles with comments that the materials were not suitable for students. For example, the article "What is difficult to draw" pointed out that drawing buffaloes and dogs is difficult and drawing ghosts is easy. Many people criticized the education sector for including these materials in textbooks according to the 2018 general education program.
On the evening of October 17, the Ministry of Education and Training confirmed that the above content is not included in the current textbooks that schools are using.
"The Ministry has requested that the relevant authorities investigate the origin of the above information and clarify the responsibilities of the individuals and organizations that posted and distorted it," said a representative of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Textbooks according to the 2018 general education program include three sets: Connecting knowledge with life , Creative horizons and Kite, which will be put into use from 2020.
At that time, some of the materials in the book were considered inappropriate. For example, in the Vietnamese textbook for grade 1 in the Canh Dieu series, some of the materials were considered long and difficult, using difficult-to-understand words and unfamiliar images. The Ministry of Education and Training at that time requested the publisher and author to edit and correct inappropriate content. The poem "Bullying" in the Literature textbook for grade 6 in the Connecting knowledge with life series also caused controversy.
Many teachers proactively choose and replace them with other materials because the educational goal of the new general education program is to develop students' qualities and abilities. Textbooks are no longer a law as before, but only a means to support teaching and learning.
Currently, grades 1 to 4, 6 to 8 and grades 10 and 11 have been studying according to the new curriculum and textbooks.
