In order to help the poor have stable housing, stabilize their lives soon, work and produce with peace of mind, and gradually eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, on February 7, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province issued Decision No. 214/QD-UBND promulgating the Project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households in the province who need to build new houses in 2025.
According to the Project, currently, the majority of ethnic minorities in the province live on farming and slash-and-burn farming; the economic, cultural and social life of a part of the population is still difficult. Many policy households and ethnic minority households in the area do not have houses or only have temporary, dilapidated houses, and need housing support to stabilize their lives and gradually reduce poverty. The whole province currently has 5,405 poor and near-poor households living in temporary, dilapidated houses that need to be repaired or rebuilt in 2025, of which the need for new construction is 4,285 houses and the need for repair is 1,120 houses.
Donating houses of gratitude to poor households, households with housing difficulties, policy families, and ethnic minorities in the province.
The project aims to complete the construction of 4,285 houses for households in need of new construction in 2025 under the Government's Program on Joining Hands to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses. The total cost of new construction under the Project is VND 342.8 billion, equivalent to VND 80 million/house. Of which, the budget allocated from the Central Program to Support the Elimination of Temporary and Dilapidated Houses is VND 257.1 billion; the provincial budget is expected to allocate an additional VND 85.7 billion. In addition, localities will proactively mobilize businesses, philanthropists and mobilize from other legal sources to provide additional support to build houses for households.
The project implementation period starts from now until the end of October 2025, when these houses will be completed and handed over to people for use in order to practically welcome the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party.
The housing construction standards ensure “3 hard” (hard foundation, hard frame - wall, hard roof), while ensuring “synchronization, urgency, acceptance and handover to the people as soon as completed”. The implementation of the Project ensures the right beneficiaries, quality and progress, completing the set goals so that people have safe and stable housing, gradually improving the quality of life. In addition, the implementation of the Project will be closely monitored, ensuring publicity, transparency and preventing waste or negativity.
The development and implementation of the Project is a very meaningful work, contributing to helping the poor have stable housing, stabilize their lives soon, work and produce with peace of mind, gradually eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, and is the driving force for Dak Lak province to develop rapidly in terms of economy - culture - society, ensuring security - national defense. Through the implementation of the Project, it is aimed at creating solidarity, unity, and promoting the strength of the entire political system for all policies and guidelines of the Party, the State, the Provincial Party Committee and the People's Committee of Dak Lak province.
From 2021 to present, the whole Dak Lak province has built and repaired 5,649 houses, of which 4,612 were newly built and 1,037 were repaired.
