The 13th Southeast Asian School Games (ASG 13) is taking place in Da Nang with the participation of nearly 2,000 officials, coaches, referees, and athletes who are students from 10 Southeast Asian countries.
The Vietnamese Student Sports Delegation has 138 athletes participating. Mr. Nguyen Thanh De, Director of the Department of Physical Education (GDTC), Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Congress emphasized that student athletes are ambassadors of school sports, the future talents of Vietnamese sports. Badminton athlete Bui Bich Phuong expressed her honor to compete at ASG 13. Phuong shared that she will attend the congress with the spirit of solidarity and friendship with international friends, demonstrating the friendliness of the country and people of Vietnam who love peace. At the same time, she will absolutely strictly abide by the regulations of the Vietnam Student Sports Delegation and the regulations of the congress. Lam Tai, an athlete from the Ho Chi Minh City Sports Training Center, said that before coming to ASG, he had practiced and trained his physical strength a lot with the hope of entering the tournament in the best physical condition. “This year is the first time I have participated, so I am very eager to show myself. My goal is to win a gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation. Although I know it will be difficult, I will try my best,” Tai shared. |
Swimmer Nguyen Van Thuan (12th grade student, Ho Chi Minh City) shared that he spends 6 hours a day practicing to prepare for ASG13. “It is my joy and honor to be able to practice to compete on behalf of the country. I have prepared very carefully, practicing every day according to the training plan that the coach has set out in advance. I will try my best to win a medal to live up to the efforts and expectations of the whole team,” Thuan said. |

Athletes are selected based on many criteria: 18 years old or younger, studying at all types of schools in educational institutions nationwide, certified by competent health authorities to be healthy enough to compete in sports; won Gold and Silver medals at domestic and international sports competitions in 2023 - 2024; belong to the national youth sports team; won Gold medals at National Student Sports Tournaments organized by the Ministry of Education and Training in 2023. |
The goal of the Vietnam Student Association in participating in this congress is to strengthen solidarity and friendship, expand exchanges, study and experience sharing between students and staff of countries in the region, determined to achieve the highest results with a top 3 achievement in the entire delegation/10 countries. |
