Veteran Nguyen Van Kiet in Dien Tho commune is a typical example in the movement of veterans who do good business in Dien Ban town. Having trained in the military environment (from 1992 - 1994), in 1995, returning to his hometown, Mr. Kiet started doing business with a straw mushroom production model.

For nearly 30 years, with the passion and strong will of Uncle Ho's soldier, veteran Nguyen Van Kiet has achieved many successes in production and business.

He has been awarded many certificates of merit in labor production by the President, Prime Minister, Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front, Central Committee of Vietnam Veterans Association...

In 2002, from a small-scale straw mushroom production model, Mr. Kiet boldly rented land and invested in an aquaculture farm combined with raising chickens, cows, etc. on an area of ​​1.5 hectares. In 2016, he combined with a number of individuals to establish Dien Ban Agricultural Seed Joint Stock Company. In which, Mr. Kiet is known as one of the two "fathers" of the famous 3-star OCOP product - Phong Thu Rice.

At its peak, his farm raised nearly 100,000 chickens, more than 200 cows, and freshwater fish ponds that sold 25-30 tons of various types of fish each season. Currently, Mr. Kiet's farm generates an average annual revenue of more than 1 billion VND, with a profit of 200-300 million VND/year.

On the road to economic development, Mr. Kiet encountered many challenges and failures, and at times thought he would have to give up. For example, the influenza A (H5N1) outbreak in 2004 that destroyed the entire chicken farm; or the fire at the agricultural product purchasing factory just one year ago...

“With passion, perseverance and self-belief, especially thanks to being trained in the military environment, I have the courage to overcome difficulties and challenges,” said Mr. Kiet.

Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Sau - Chairman of the Association of War Veterans of Dien Ban town said that by 2020, the Association of War Veterans of the town will no longer have poor or near-poor households; the rate of well-off and rich households is currently over 68%.

In the emulation movement "CCB help each other reduce poverty, do good business", the whole town has 10 cooperatives, 1 production cooperative group, 1 farm, 12 family farms, 24 service business households owned by CCB members, creating jobs and stable income for 269 workers.

In the whole province, there are currently 80 small and medium enterprises, 30 cooperatives, 31 production cooperatives, 254 farms, 632 family farms, 939 service business associations owned by war veteran members, creating jobs and stable income for 5,276 workers. More than 50 war veterans have achieved the title of "Excellent war veteran in production and business" at all levels.

In Quang Nam, the Veterans Association at all levels acts as a guarantee for members to borrow capital entrusted to the Social Policy Bank, the outstanding loan amount to date is more than 1,088 billion VND with a total of 19,476 households borrowing. The whole province has 482 savings and loan groups led by Veterans.
