Tra Vinh organized a Vietnam - Japan cultural exchange program, aiming to contribute to strengthening friendship and enhancing the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries.
On the afternoon of September 29, at Tra Vinh University, the Department of Planning and Investment of Tra Vinh coordinated with the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association of Tra Vinh province and Tra Vinh University to organize the 3rd Vietnam - Japan cultural exchange program in Tra Vinh province, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (September 21, 1973 - September 21, 2023).
The program was attended by Mr. Masuo Ono, Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City; Ms. Akane Mastuba, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, along with representatives of the Union of Friendship Organizations of the Mekong Delta provinces, and Japanese enterprises in Tra Vinh.

In his opening speech, Mr. Le Van Han, Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee, said that the 3rd Vietnam - Japan cultural exchange program in Tra Vinh province in 2023 is one of a series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Japan diplomatic relations, contributing to strengthening the friendship between Vietnam - Japan .
Through this program, Tra Vinh province hopes to create an impression, act as a bridge for cultural exchange between the two countries; introduce and promote the image of the country, culture and people of Vietnam in general, and Tra Vinh province in particular to the people of Japan; create conditions for the people of Tra Vinh province to access and understand more about Japanese culture, as well as spread cooperation opportunities in various fields, create study and work opportunities for the people of the two countries, contributing to deepening the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.

Mr. Han said that Japan is one of the leading important strategic partners, bilateral development cooperation (ODA) partner of Vietnam and a traditional partner of Tra Vinh province. In recent times, ODA projects funded by the Japanese Government have brought great economic efficiency to people in the project area in Tra Vinh province.
Provincial leaders acknowledged and highly appreciated the contributions, especially of Japanese enterprises to Tra Vinh province in recent times, which have created jobs for over 5,000 local workers. Regarding cooperation in the field of labor and employment abroad, Tra Vinh province currently has 1,192 workers working abroad under contracts, of which 1,140 are working in Japan.

At the exchange program, delegates enjoyed unique cultural and artistic performances such as: Japanese drum dance, cherry blossom dance, Japanese Yasakoi dance, Kimono performance... along with cultural performances of Tra Vinh province such as singing and dancing, traditional musical instrument performances, pentatonic instruments of Khmer ethnic people; planting souvenir trees and participating in outdoor exchange activities.
