Tra Vinh province has built and repaired 983 houses, with a total cost of nearly 43 billion VND from the Social Security Fund and the Fund for the Poor, of which 536 houses will be newly built.

Implementing the emulation movement "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025" launched by the Prime Minister and through reviewing the remaining number of poor and near-poor households facing housing difficulties, Tra Vinh province focused resources to strive to complete by the end of the first quarter of 2025, with 526 houses.

Mr. Le Thanh Binh - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tra Vinh province said that the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households has always received special attention from the Provincial Party Committee, considering this an important task of the entire political system that must be completed soon; thereby, creating a source of spiritual encouragement, increasing motivation for poor households to work in production, develop the economy, overcome material difficulties, and strive for a prosperous life.

Responding to the emulation movement "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025" launched by the Prime Minister, in 2024, Tra Vinh organized many campaigns, mobilized many resources, built more than 5,880 houses for poor and near-poor households facing housing difficulties, helping households have a decent and spacious roof according to the "3 hard" standard (hard foundation, hard wall frame, hard roof) ensuring use for 20 years or more, avoiding the negative impact of climate and weather.

In 2025, through reviewing the remaining poor and near-poor households with housing difficulties in the province, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and localities have implemented the construction and repair of 983 new houses, with a total cost of nearly 43 billion VND from the Social Security Fund and the "For the Poor" Fund of the province; of which 536 houses were newly built.

From now until the end of March 2025, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and localities will hand over the last batch of newly built and repaired houses, completing the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households earlier than the time launched by the Prime Minister.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Phuong - Secretary of Tra Cu District Party Committee said that the locality has more than 80% of the population being Khmer ethnic people, many households still have difficulties in life, so supporting poor and near-poor households in housing and social security policies is always a concern of the Party Committee and the government.

In 2024, Tra Cu district built 1,029 houses for poor households, near-poor households, policy families and households with housing difficulties from the support of the Ministry of Public Security, the Provincial Social Security Fund and the capital of the National Target Program for Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas. In February 2025, the district continued to build and hand over the last 20 houses to poor households from the support of the Provincial Social Policy Bank Branch.

Along with building houses for poor households, Tra Vinh province also supports the construction and repair of houses for families with preferential policies and meritorious people, with a total cost of more than 43 billion VND; of which 218 are newly built houses and 993 are repaired. According to the plan, these houses will be handed over to families with preferential policies and meritorious people in March 2025, completing the early elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province.
