On the afternoon of October 19, the Da Nang Department of Health announced that it had received test results for a patient residing in Lien Chieu District suspected of having monkeypox and is being temporarily quarantined at Da Nang Hospital.
Test results from the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang showed that this patient was negative for monkeypox but positive for hand, foot and mouth disease.
Previously, on October 18, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Da Nang sent an urgent dispatch to Da Nang Hospital and medical centers of districts to take measures to handle suspected cases of monkeypox.
According to a quick report from Da Nang Hospital, a suspected case of monkeypox was detected at the hospital's Department of Tropical Medicine. To proactively implement response measures, Da Nang CDC requested Da Nang Hospital to temporarily isolate the patient in accordance with regulations and implement measures to prevent monkeypox infection at the hospital according to the Ministry of Health's instructions.
The Da Nang Department of Health has also directed medical agencies, units, and medical examination and treatment facilities to focus on screening, triage, and early detection.
