Specifically, the Drug Administration (Ministry of Health) said that the sample of Cefixime 200 film-coated tablets, taken from Linh Chi Company Limited at Hapulico Center, did not meet the quality requirements for the qualitative cefixime index. The sample had a qualitative reaction of paracetamol, the paracetamol content in the preparation was 105.5 mg/tablet.

The request was made by the Drug Administration after receiving a report from the Hanoi Center for Drug, Cosmetic and Food Testing on August 14, about the discovery of a sample of the antibiotic Cefixime 200, with the label showing batch number 14270123, produced by Cuu Long Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company, that did not meet quality requirements.
However, a representative of Cuu Long Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company said that after reviewing and re-testing the product with the same batch number as above, it was shown that Cefixime 200 produced by the company fully met the quality requirements according to the registered records at the Department of Drug Administration.
According to the representative of the unit, the product sampled at Linh Chi Company Limited is a counterfeit product, not manufactured by Cuu Long Pharmaceuticals, and at the same time, affirmed that it has never sold or cooperated in buying and selling with the customer, Linh Chi Company Limited. Previously, in April, this company also issued a warning that this medicine was counterfeit, advising consumers to be careful when buying.
Cefixime 200 is an antibiotic, taken orally, sold by prescription, used to treat infections caused by sensitive bacteria such as otitis media, pharyngitis and tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, urinary tract infections...
The Drug Administration of Vietnam has requested functional units to strengthen inspection of establishments producing, trading and using drugs in the area. Detect, prevent and handle cases of trading in counterfeit drugs, drugs of unknown origin, smuggled drugs, drugs purchased and sold without valid invoices and documents.
In addition, consumers are advised to carefully check the packaging and origin of the product before use. To avoid counterfeit goods, consumers should buy from official branches, agents, and distributors.
