According to the report of the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy, the crime situation is complicated and has increased compared to the same period in 2023; many types of crimes continue to arise with new methods and tricks, organized activities, hiding under the guise of businesses, using information technology, committing crimes in cyberspace related to many fields: bidding, land, finance, banking, education, petroleum, resource exploitation...

According to the report, 19,810 cases of crimes against economic management, ownership and environment were prosecuted (an increase of 1.31%), of which many crimes arose with sophisticated methods, tricks and activities, organized crimes, collusion between subjects inside and outside the State, related to the fields of finance, banking, bidding, land, which became increasingly more complicated and serious; acts of impersonating police officers and the Procuracy to commit fraud and appropriation were sophisticated.
Typically, the Investigation Police Department of Nghe An Province Police arrested 46 subjects working at 3 Taiwanese companies; trained, instructed and provided with equipment, machinery, and scripts to defraud and appropriate property by impersonating telecommunications switchboards, police officers, prosecutors, courts, and the State Bank, asking victims to transfer money into their accounts.
Or the case of a group of scammers using high technology and claiming to be law enforcement agencies to defraud Ms. Nguyen Thi Giang Huong, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Nhon Trach District, Dong Nai, of 170 billion VND...
Another type of crime also mentioned by the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy is the violation of judicial activities. During the reporting period, the prosecution agency initiated 36 new cases (an increase of 24.1%), mainly related to acts of bribery, abuse of position and power to appropriate property, and embezzlement of property. Typical examples include the case of an investigator and investigation officer of the Ha Long City Police (Quang Ninh) who received a bribe of 1.3 billion VND to help the defendants get out on bail; and the case of Nguyen Van Bi, an enforcement officer of the Civil Judgment Enforcement Department of An Giang province, who collected money from the judgment debtor and appropriated 608 million VND for personal use...
Strictly handle corruption cases
Regarding corruption and position crimes, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy said that 468 new cases were prosecuted (an increase of 2%). Authorities continued to detect, prosecute, and investigate many major cases, with particularly serious and complicated crimes, many of which involved ministries, branches, and localities, with close and sophisticated collusion between state officials and private companies and enterprises in the fields of land management, resource and mineral exploitation, basic construction investment, and petroleum trading.
The report mentioned some typical cases such as the case of violating regulations on exploration, exploitation of natural resources, smuggling that occurred at Thai Duong Group Joint Stock Company, Vietnam Rare Earth Joint Stock Company and related units. Or the case of violating regulations on accounting causing serious consequences, giving and receiving bribes, taking advantage of positions and powers causing serious consequences that occurred at Phuc Son Group and related units. In addition, there was a case of taking advantage of positions and powers while performing official duties that occurred at the Ministry of Industry and Trade and provinces and cities; the case related to Xuyen Viet Oil Trading, Transport and Tourism Company Limited...
Director Le Minh Tri acknowledged that the reason for the increase in newly prosecuted crimes is due to the impact of the difficult socio-economic situation, which has negatively impacted and led to an increase in many types of crimes. State management in some areas is not strict, creating loopholes for some officials to take advantage of and commit crimes. Another reason is the lack of awareness of law enforcement among some people. On the other hand, the work of detecting, combating and handling crimes by functional agencies has been promoted and is becoming more and more effective, especially many economic, corruption and position-related crimes have been discovered, investigated and handled, according to the Director.
The Chief Justice assessed that the work of handling corruption cases and incidents continued to achieve positive results; many particularly serious cases were prosecuted, investigated, prosecuted, and tried. The Supreme People's Procuracy has seriously and effectively implemented the tasks and requirements of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption and negativity; closely coordinated with the Investigation Agency in applying measures to recover assets in corruption and economic cases. Continue to closely coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security and the Supreme People's Court in detecting, prosecuting, investigating, prosecuting, and trying, ensuring strict and lawful handling of major corruption and economic cases.
The Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy said that many measures have been proposed to improve the quality of the fight against and handling of corruption, economic and official cases.
