Some Taiwanese tourists in a group of 292 people abandoned in Phu Quoc due to a financial dispute between two travel companies have spoken out upon returning to Taiwan.
A tourist surnamed Lin who arrived at Taoyuan International Airport on Wednesday said he hoped the tour organizer, We Love Tour, would provide a clear explanation for the numerous shortcomings of the trip. The promised itineraries on Phu Quoc Island were not delivered, according to Focus Taiwan .

Lin said he felt "cheated" because some of the travel and accommodation costs, which were supposed to be covered by the tour company, were passed on to the tourists.
One unnamed male traveler shared that he paid for a five-day trip arranged by We Love Tour but was left without accommodation for three hours on the third day. On the fourth day, he even had to pay for part of his own meals because no food was provided.

Also expressing dissatisfaction with We Love Tour, a man named Su said he felt the travel agency had been dishonest in handling the failure.
Many of the promises the company made turned out to be in vain, including one case where he had to personally cover the cost of a taxi, contrary to the terms agreed upon during the tour.

Slow to pay debt to Vietnamese partners
Taiwan's tourism authority added that an investigation will be conducted to determine whether there was any wrongdoing on the part of the Taiwanese company.
Meanwhile, We Love Tour has promised to compensate the affected passengers. David Lin, Director of We Love Tour, has issued a statement, promising to take full responsibility for the passengers' losses during the trip.
Mr. Lin said that We Love Tour plans to file a lawsuit against Winner Vietnam, emphasizing that the incident has significantly affected the rights and interests of tourists.
In response, Winner Vietnam said on Thursday that they hope We Love Tour will fulfill its contractual obligations by making full payment as agreed (on February 26).

Meanwhile, according to Focus Taiwan , Ziontour - a Vietnamese travel company that has cooperated with We Love Tour for 11 years, accused the Taiwanese travel company of continuously delaying payments to Vietnamese partners and owing at least four local operators.
Mr. Phan Anh Tri, General Director of Ziontour (based in Da Nang), said that We Love Tour owed his company 80,000 USD (about 2 billion VND) since 2019, and has only paid 10,000 USD so far.
Emphasizing the financial stress of such contract violations, Phan Anh Tri said that competition in Vietnam's tourism industry is fierce, making it difficult to make a profit if there is additional pressure from non-payment by partners.
About 800 tourists from several Taiwanese travel agencies departed from Taiwan on February 9 and 10 for five-day tours to Phu Quoc.
Of the tourists departing on these two days, 292 were under the management of We Love Tour. However, upon arriving in Phu Quoc, the program fell through due to the lack of a Vietnamese partner to take them. Winner Company then served the group and the money spent was promised by We Love Tour on February 26.
