Along with correctly identifying potentials and strengths and overcoming difficulties and challenges, the industry is gradually affirming itself as one of the three pillars in the economic development of Dak Nong province.
Business restores production
In 2022, industrial production in the province is assessed to operate more stably than the previous year. In particular, a number of factories producing products such as alcohol, cassava starch, rubber, cashew processing, hydropower, solar power, wind power, etc. have returned to operating at maximum capacity.
Notably, in June 2022, the coffee processing factory with a capacity of 20,000 tons of beans/year and 1,500 tons of ground coffee/year of Huy Hien Dak Mil Company Limited (Dak Mil) came into operation in phase 1. This is an important highlight for Dak Nong's coffee industry.
It is expected that in early 2023, Nam Binh 1 Wind Power Plant (capacity of 30MW) and Nam Long Hydropower Plant (capacity of 9MW) will also be put into operation. The plant not only provides electricity for production but also contributes significantly to the budget.
In addition, the mineral mining industry for construction materials is operating effectively in 2022. This increasingly meets the demand for construction materials in Dak Nong.
The Alumina Factory's operations are stable, contributing greatly to the development of Dak Nong Industry. |
In particular, production and consumption activities at Nhan Co Alumina Factory (Dak R'lap) remain stable. The company's mineral revenue in 2022 reached over VND 3,509 billion, reaching nearly 128% of the plan, nearly 120% compared to 2021.
According to Mr. Nguyen Ba Phong, Director of Dak Nong Aluminum Company - TKV, in 2022, the Company made outstanding efforts to exceed the set targets in production.
In 2023, the Company will continue to make efforts to implement production management solutions. The most important of which is to ensure the conditions of input materials and fuels for the factory.
Next are solutions to help reduce consumption indicators; at the same time, automate production lines and stages, apply 4.0 technology to make the factory increasingly stable and developed.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, Dak Nong's industrial production index in 2022 increased by 11% compared to 2021. Some major industrial products had growth compared to the previous year such as: construction stones of all kinds reached 1,150 thousand m3, up 3.6%; industrial alcohol reached 14,500 tons, up 2.3%; ground coffee reached 1,890 tons, up 11.2%; tapioca starch reached 30,000 tons, up 12%; commercial electricity reached 812 million kWh, up 10.8%; electricity production reached 2,550 million kWh, up 24.4%... |

Appropriate development mechanisms and policies
The Resolution of the 12th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025, set the goal of making Dak Nong "become a fairly average province by 2025 and a fairly developed province by 2030 in the Central Highlands region".
To concretize this goal, the Department of Industry and Trade of Dak Nong province is effectively implementing the Industrial Development Plan of Dak Nong province to 2025, with a vision to 2030.
The plan is implemented with the orientation of promoting industrial development; early shifting the economic structure of the province towards industry. In particular, focusing on mobilizing and effectively using all resources to develop advantageous industries such as: bauxite - alumina - aluminum industry, renewable energy and agricultural and forestry processing industry.
In the period of 2021 - 2025, Dak Nong strives for an average increase of 16% per year in industrial production index; of which, mining industry increases by 3.03%; processing and manufacturing industry increases by 31.04%; electricity, gas, hot water, steam production and distribution industry increases by 24.93%; water supply industry, waste and wastewater management and treatment activities increase by 5%. |
Specifically, the agricultural and forestry processing industries will be promoted to grow with a processing value increase rate of 7-8%/year; bauxite mining, alumina and aluminum smelting industries will increase by 46.46%; electricity production will increase by 13.32%/year, and commercial electricity will increase by 36.5%/year. The proportion of the industrial sector in GRDP in 2025 will account for 16.74%.
In the period of 2026 - 2030, Dak Nong will increase the proportion of industry in GRDP to 23%. A number of industrial clusters and industrial enterprises in the province with large scale and domestic and international competitiveness will be built.
By 2025, Dak Nong strives to increase the value of processed agricultural products by 7 - 8% per year. |
The province is determined to continue promoting industrial development to contribute to increasing budget revenue. This will create a driving force to promote growth and shift the economic structure of the province.
By 2030, the province's industry strives to be among the strong development groups in the Central Highlands region and to build Dak Nong into an industrial center for bauxite and aluminum mining and processing in Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Ba Ut, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said that in order for the industry sector to develop and maintain its leading position in the three economic pillars of the province, the sector will continue to advise on the development and completion of appropriate mechanisms and policies.
This will focus on preferential policies such as exemption and reduction of land rent, land use fees, taxes, etc. This is the basis for encouraging and attracting projects to develop bauxite - alumina - aluminum industry, renewable energy and high-tech agricultural processing projects from the province's raw materials.
The Industry and Trade sector will review, adjust and supplement investment processes and procedures to make them more favorable for investors. Specifically, the time for processing investment procedures will be further shortened and the responsibility of the head will be attached.
“In particular, Dak Nong will gradually build a cluster to develop the bauxite - alumina - aluminum industry; at the same time, develop a cluster to link production - processing, deep processing, and consumption of agricultural products of the province. From there, it will help attract capable “locomotive” enterprises to lead the chain of links smoothly and effectively,” Mr. Ut emphasized.
