The Human Act Prize is an annual national award to honor individuals and organizations that have made positive contributions to society through prestigious community initiatives and projects that create long-term and sustainable impacts. The award is organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper and its partner, VCCorp Joint Stock Company.
TOWARDS A CREATIVE COMMUNITY NETWORK
In its first year of organization with the theme “Pioneering Imprint”, the Human Act Prize for Community has made a big impact in the community, inspiring many organizations, individuals, businesses and sending a message: If we create together, we can all create great and long-lasting impacts for society. Change comes not only from big projects but also from simple actions every day - that is also the spirit that this year's Human Act Prize hopes to promote.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Comrade Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Human Act Prize said: The Human Act Prize 2023 has been assessed by competent authorities and the community as a very timely step of Nhan Dan Newspaper and its accompanying units, aiming to further open up the flow for the community, further enhancing the influence of the Social Impact field.
"We think that no one who does charity work expects to be honored. But society cannot forget that contribution. The birth of the Human Act Prize is a timely step. Thanks to the award, we know that there are projects that last 15-20 years that no one knows about, there are large-scale projects that no one mentions, there are small people who have helped tens of thousands of lives," comrade Le Quoc Minh said emotionally.
Since the Award Gala in November 2023, the Organizing Committee has seen that community projects continue to be implemented and initiated across the country. Not only have large enterprises proactively taken on the responsibility of contributing, but there have also been many volunteer groups and projects that, although small in scale, have begun to inspire society with their good and creative ways of doing things, suggesting that many other organizations and individuals replicate the model.
According to him, this is the spirit that the Human Act Prize wishes to promote and encourage so that the community movement can develop both in breadth and depth, truly creating a change in awareness and quality of life for beneficiaries.
The Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper said: There are many touching stories from the above special way of doing things, but not many people in society know about it to join hands and replicate it.
"If large businesses, large organizations, and the network of community workers connect more, join hands more, are honored and spread more, the coverage and effectiveness of projects will certainly make great strides," said the Head of the Organizing Committee of the Community Action Awards.
Therefore, the Organizing Committee decided to choose the theme of the second year of the Human Act Prize 2024 as Building Community. The stronger the Building Community network is, the more social security and quality of life of the people will be improved.
Explaining further about the topic of Community Creation, journalist and social activist Tran Mai Anh - Member of the Human Act Prize Jury said: The most valuable thing about the Human Act Prize is not only to honor initiatives for the community. Along with the awards is the spreading of inspiration, experience and knowledge in the field of social activities.
"What society needs is not only bright torches but also roads. I hope that the impact of the Human Act Prize is not limited to the projects and initiatives it awards. The prize sows seeds, so that we have a whole forest of actions for the community," journalist Tran Mai Anh hopes.
NEW HIGHLIGHTS IN HUMAN ACT PRIZE "SEASON 2"
According to Mr. Bui Ngoc Hai - Director of the Community Action Award project, to add more confidence to Community Action projects and encourage businesses, individuals, and organizations to act within their capabilities, this year's award framework will have some new highlights.
First of all, the Organizing Committee launched the publication “Pioneering Marks – Innovation in Social Impact in Vietnam” . This is a quality handbook for community workers.
With a wealth of fundamental expertise and in-depth research drawn from successful pioneering projects, the Organizing Committee believes that the publication will be "a bedside book for those who dare to shoulder the mission of serving the community". The book will also bring inspiration to those in the Community Builder, urging them to change their vision and the necessary understanding so that they can confidently pursue meaningful actions for society.
Speaking more about the publication, Mr. Michael Arnol - CEO & Executive Editor of Metro Writers - Co-editor of the book said: When writing the book 'Pioneer's Mark', the group of authors set a goal of analyzing and understanding how social activities are carried out in Vietnam, the development process and unique characteristics of these activities in Vietnam in comparison with similar movements in other countries.
"The book will help readers understand the humanitarian and altruistic tradition of community activities in Vietnam. From there, readers can feel proud, honor and actively participate in these activities. Our greatest hope is that the discussions and case studies shared in this book will inspire those who are considering starting their own social projects," said Mr. Michael Arnol.
Another new feature of this year's Awards is the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding with award support units to improve the quality of information provision, the quality of organizing forums, seminars, and courses on community projects, etc.
All these activities are part of the Human Act Prize's development roadmap to achieve the goal that the Prize Organizing Committee has committed to since the first year, which is to ensure that all initiatives related to Social Impact in Vietnam are disseminated promptly, transparently, effectively and humanely.
Specifically, the award support units include:
PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) - one of the world's top four auditing firms, providing auditing, consulting and tax services. PwC will support businesses to integrate sustainability into their business operations, from environmental and social risk management to transparent reporting on ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) activities.
Social Impact - a sustainable development education platform founded by community activists. Social Impact is the first educational organization in Vietnam committed to a single mission, which is to promote knowledge about sustainable development.
TikTok - the world's leading short-form video platform, with the mission of inspiring creativity and bringing interesting experiences to users. Accompanying the Community Action Awards, TikTok wishes to spread positive stories, honor individuals and organizations that are working hard for the community, thereby inspiring many people to join hands to create positive changes.
"In that spirit, the Organizing Committee proposes and calls on ministries, departments, branches, localities, organizations, individuals, especially influential enterprises, to actively respond, join hands, and spread the spirit of Community Creation. Together, we will contribute to making dreams of a better life for everyone come true from today," emphasized comrade Le Quoc Minh.
Finally, the Human Act Prize 2024 will open its Nomination Portal for the first time from September 23, 2024. This is an opportunity for everyone to seek and honor outstanding initiatives that contribute to promoting sustainable development in Vietnam. The Organizing Committee hopes to receive nominations from all provinces and cities, so that together we can create great and positive impacts for the community.
Finally, the 2024 Community Action Award also received special support from many media sponsors; thereby helping to spread humanitarian actions.
