At the Community Action Award Ceremony organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper in coordination with related units, Nestlé Vietnam's NESCAFÉ Plan was proud to be honored in the most prestigious category - "Award of the Year" Human Act Prize.
The award recognizes Nestlé Vietnam's contributions and persistent commitment to building a coffee farming community based on a regenerative and sustainable agricultural model, helping to improve farmers' livelihoods and significantly contributing to enhancing the position of Vietnamese coffee beans. The Community Action Award is a national award organized annually by Nhan Dan Newspaper in coordination with related units to honor individuals and organizations that have made positive contributions to society through prestigious initiatives and projects, creating long-term and sustainable impacts. In particular, the "Award of the Year" Human Act Prize is the most prestigious award, honoring programs and actions that have made positive and sustainable contributions to the community, inspiring dedication and commitment for a better future for everyone. Surpassing 128 quality projects in the preliminary round and 32 excellent projects in the final round, the NESCAFÉ Plan program was honored in the Human Act Prize "Award of the Year" category for programs with great impact, creating long-term value for the community and the environment. This recognition is not only an honor, but also a testament to the practical values that NESCAFÉ Plan has brought. By putting people at the center of all activities, NESCAFÉ Plan has created positive, sustainable marks in two aspects. Specifically, by identifying farmers as the center, as those who directly manage resources and make farming decisions appropriate to their own specific circumstances, the NESCAFÉ Plan program helps farmers realize their role as an important link in the entire value chain and as those who can create transformation.Nestlé Vietnam's agricultural support staff guides coffee farmers in regenerative agriculture practices. The acceptance and change in coffee cultivation methods towards regeneration by farmers when participating in the program is one of the factors contributing to the success of NESCAFÉ Plan. This positive change has also helped farmers improve their livelihoods for themselves, their families, their communities and, more broadly, the sustainable development of the Vietnamese coffee industry, making Vietnam a reference point for Robusta coffee in the world. In the journey of more than 13 years accompanying farmers, Nestlé has implemented hundreds of thousands of technical training sessions, coaching on sustainable coffee cultivation and supporting, equipping digital management tools for farmers to proactively practice regenerative agriculture, effectively manage their households, contributing to building a sustainable future. At the same time, through the female farmer group leader development program, the program has contributed to promoting women's empowerment and gender equality in the community and in the value chain. The second mark, which is also the factor that contributes to the success of the program, is the agricultural support staff of Nestlé Vietnam, with members who have been with, supporting and accompanying farmers directly in the field since 2011 until now. The success of the program is the result, the sweet fruit of more than a decade of attachment, standing side by side, sharing hardships with farmers. Starting from a few households, up to now, the NESCAFÉ Plan program has connected with 21,000 farming households, helping them increase their income by 30% - 100%. Honored in the highest category – “Award of the Year” at the Human Act Prize 2024, NESCAFÉ Plan shows the recognition of experts in many fields of the Prize for the program's positive and comprehensive contribution, from building a prosperous farming community to a green, sustainable agriculture and ready to respond to the challenge of climate change. The NESCAFÉ Plan helps to comprehensively and positively change the lives of the coffee farming community as well as the Vietnamese coffee industry - Photo: VGP/TN
