Speaking on March 11, Australian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Sara Hooper, shared that the Taste of Australia program aims to introduce and promote cooperation between the Vietnamese and Australian food industries.
Vietnam and Australia have a strong partnership built on trust, mutual respect and close economic cooperation. Over the years, cooperation between the two countries has grown steadily in many important areas such as trade, investment, education and innovation, contributing to the increasingly prosperous bilateral relationship.
In 2024, total bilateral trade turnover will reach 22.1 billion AUD (equivalent to 14 billion USD).
Last year, the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with a commitment to jointly expand cooperation in many areas.
“Taste of Australia 2025 is a testament to that commitment, an initiative that is not just about food, but also about cultural and economic connections between our two countries,” Ms Hooper stressed.
This event taking place in March and April is not only a food festival but also a way for Vietnamese consumers and businesses to experience Australia's top cuisine and agricultural products.
The program includes many exciting events, from culinary promotion programs, cooking competitions, trade and consumer exhibitions... to bring Australian flavors to Vietnamese diners.
Accordingly, from now until early April, the program will cooperate with 29 restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City to introduce agricultural products, fresh fruits and Australian products currently available in the Vietnamese market. On April 12, there will be a cooking competition for culinary students from vocational schools in Ho Chi Minh City and the winner will receive training and internship opportunities from leading experts in the industry.
Chef Ngo Thanh Hoa, champion of MasterChef Vietnam 2013, will be the representative and judge of the competition.
“I am honoured to be representing Taste of Australia 2025. This is a great opportunity to introduce high-quality Australian ingredients to Vietnamese diners and inspire the next generation of chefs,” he said.
