A leader of the Thanh Hoa Food Safety and Hygiene Department said there are many causes of food poisoning, not necessarily due to food.
"Food is only one part, so it is necessary to continue to clarify and evaluate comprehensively to determine the reason why dozens of students suffered from nausea and stomachache after lunch on December 21 at Dien Bien 1 Primary School," said this leader.
Previously, as Thanh Nien Newspaper reported, after lunch on December 21, many students of Dien Bien 1 Primary School showed symptoms of stomachache and nausea, so they were taken to hospitals in Thanh Hoa City for treatment.
Initially, the school reported that only 9 students had stomach aches and nausea and had to be hospitalized. However, the actual number reported by hospitals and parents was around 20 students.
As of December 26, all students have stabilized and been discharged from the hospital. The Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa City is also taking the next steps to consider whether any individuals or groups have violated the regulations and will be disciplined according to regulations.
Lunch on December 21 at Dien Bien 1 Primary School included: white rice, fried fish cakes, pumpkin soup with minced pork, stir-fried Chinese cabbage with pork and boiled jicama. The unit providing meal services for Dien Bien 1 Primary School is Phuc Nguyen Service Development Trading Joint Stock Company (located in Thanh Hoa City).
Immediately after the incident, many parents asked the school to change the school's catering service provider.
