(LĐXH) - With the need to receive about 10,000 workers each year, experts, skilled workers and seasonal workers from Vietnam will have more opportunities to work in Finland.
Vietnamese workers are highly appreciated
Finnish Minister of Economic Affairs and Employment Arto Olavi Satonen assessed that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is one of the important solutions to help Finland solve the problem of labor shortage due to population aging.
More and more Finnish companies are hiring foreign workers. At the same time, the Finnish government also provides public services to support foreign workers to work effectively in Finland.
"Vietnam is one of the most important markets for Finland in the labor sector. We see that Vietnamese workers have good vocational skills and the ability to quickly access technology.
Asian countries, including Vietnam, are dynamic markets that can provide quality labor for Finland. About 50,000 Vietnamese workers are living and working in Finland, actively contributing to strengthening the relationship between the two countries," said Mr. Satonen.
Every year, about 10,000 - 15,000 workers in Finland leave the labor market, so the demand for labor is constantly increasing. Minister Arto Olavi Satonen said that in the next 15 years, Finland is expected to need about 1.3 million workers.
First of all, by 2025, this Nordic country needs about 2,000 workers in the infrastructure, service and food sectors, requiring workers with English proficiency.
The healthcare sector needs about 3,000 workers with stricter selection criteria: workers must be able to communicate in Finnish.
The industry is expected to need 1,000 workers, a number that will increase in the coming years as the Finnish economy continues to grow strongly. The information technology (IT) industry also needs about 1,000 workers…
According to Johanna Jäkälä, CEO of Business Finland, Finland is facing a serious shortage of human resources in key areas such as healthcare, technology and industry.
It is estimated that in the period 2030 - 2040, Finland will need to add about 50,000 - 60,000 skilled workers each year. This opens up promising opportunities for labor cooperation between Vietnam and Finland.
“Finland is not only looking for workers in the service industry such as hotels and restaurants, but also needs highly qualified human resources in the fields of health, engineering and digital technology. In addition, traditional industries such as shipbuilding are also thirsty for talent,” Ms. Johanna Jäkälä emphasized.
To attract talent, Finland has implemented many programs such as the "90-Day Finn" campaign that allows participants to experience life and work in Finland; and increased cooperation with Vietnamese universities to train and prepare the workforce for the international market.
Vietnam ensures adequate supply of human resources
The activity of sending workers to work abroad has achieved many remarkable achievements with the number of workers going abroad increasing gradually over the years. At the same time, the quality of labor and the reputation of Vietnamese workers in the international market are constantly improving.
In recent years, Vietnam has sent nearly 160,000 workers to work abroad each year. About 700,000 Vietnamese workers are working in 40 countries and territories, with more than 30 occupational groups. In particular, Europe is considered one of the potential markets with a large demand for foreign workers, including Vietnamese workers.
Since the end of 2023, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has approved the registration of 3 Vietnamese service enterprises with contracts to supply 134 workers (including 65 women) to work in Finland. To date, 55 workers have gone to work in Finland with a stable income of 1,500 - 2,000 EUR/month, with good working conditions and social benefits.
Assessing the Finnish labor market, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung affirmed that Vietnamese workers can fully meet the criteria and requirements set by Finland.
"In famously demanding markets like Germany, Vietnamese workers have been meeting recruitment standards well. Recently, Vietnam has supplied more than 1,000 nurses to Germany.
All candidates passed the rigorous selection process, were granted green cards and had the opportunity to settle permanently in this country," Minister Dao Ngoc Dung informed, adding that Vietnamese workers are highly appreciated internationally for their diligence, hard work and creativity.
These qualities have helped Vietnam become the priority choice of many developed countries. When many European countries, including Finland, are facing the problem of aging population, this is Vietnam's advantage.
Minister Dao Ngoc Dung affirmed that if Finland really wants to cooperate, Vietnam will ensure to provide enough human resources to meet the requirements. In the professions that Finland needs, Vietnamese workers can basically meet the requirement of communicating in English.
