(VTC News) - Not only learning to cook Vietnamese dishes, Kira also tries to immerse herself in Vietnamese culture when she becomes a daughter-in-law in Nhat's family; she loves sour soup, fried spring rolls and cleaning meticulously patterned wooden furniture.
"I like fried spring rolls made by my wife, and my wife likes sour soup made by her mother-in-law," Mr. Le Minh Nhat (30 years old, Binh Duong) humorously shared about his Russian wife's eating preferences. Love at first sight with a Russian girl Mr. Nhat's wife is Victoriia Filiushina, 27 years old, commonly known as Kira, from the ancient city of Kuzan, Russia. In 2020, after graduating from university, she decided to travel alone to explore Asian countries such as Malaysia, China and Vietnam. Due to the COVID19 pandemic, Kira was stuck in Vietnam. Misfortunes never come singly, while traveling in Nha Trang, she had a traffic accident, luckily two passersby helped her and took her to the hospital. After that, she had to go to Ho Chi Minh City to have her injured nose corrected. In misfortune, there was luck, thanks to meeting an acquaintance at the hospital, Kira became involved in the modeling profession and decided to start a career in Vietnam. After obtaining a master's degree from the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation in 2020, Le Minh Nhat stayed at the school to work as a lecturer in the Department of Psychology and Human Resource Development. In early 2021, when the COVID-19 pandemic in Russia subsided, he returned to Vietnam to visit his family and meet his friends. He met Kira during an outing with a group of friends who used to live in Russia. "The first time we met, we couldn't take our eyes off each other and we both had feelings for each other. I think I had love at first sight," he shared.

After 3 months of getting to know each other and falling in love, Mr. Nhat decided to stay in Vietnam to work and not return to Russia. He believes that a long-term love relationship needs understanding and mutual respect, especially when two people have different nationalities, cultures and lifestyles. However, not everyone easily accepts differences. The first time Minh Nhat brought Kira home to meet his parents, his parents objected. He had many serious conversations with his family about his desire to have a long-term relationship with a Russian girl. Once, Minh Nhat's father called him out to the balcony to talk and confide in each other like two friends, two men. His parents had lived in Russia many years ago, witnessing many Russian-Vietnamese couples getting together and then breaking up, unable to live together for long. He was afraid that his son's marriage would not last long. Minh Nhat understood his parents' worries, but also clearly showed his determination. He shared more with his parents about his future wife. After each date, he tells his parents about it to prove that he is happy. Whenever he has the chance, he takes Kira home to visit his family, helping to create a close relationship. Every day, he teaches his girlfriend Vietnamese for 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes before going to bed. "Kira finds Vietnamese very difficult to learn, but during the time they have known each other, she has always tried her best to communicate better with everyone," Minh Nhat proudly said about his wife. In addition to teaching Vietnamese, he also teaches Kira to cook Vietnamese dishes so that she can help her mother in the kitchen every time.

Over time, seeing that the Russian girl was gentle and kind, Minh Nhat's parents also agreed and supported their marriage. At the end of 2022, the couple had their first child, the result of a period of effort and perseverance to prove their love and seriousness in the relationship. The Russian bride loves Vietnamese food . In May of this year, Kira and her husband and children moved to Binh Duong to live with her in-laws to help with housework as well as to make it convenient for the grandchildren to be close to their grandparents. Before that, every week, the Russian and Vietnamese couple drove 30km from Ho Chi Minh City to Binh Duong to visit their parents. They often joked with each other that they "went to the grocery store to eat for free". "My wife's favorite dish is the sour soup her mother-in-law cooked. Every time she finished eating, she was full and complained to her husband, "Honey, I'm so full," Nhat laughed.

The first Vietnamese dish Minh Nhat taught his wife to make was fried spring rolls, his favorite dish. When making spring rolls, the couple had more time together; they rolled spring rolls while chatting in Vietnamese about all sorts of things. Every time they cooked together like that, they felt their love was new, gentle and more passionate. "When I rolled the first round, pretty spring roll, Kira was as happy as a baby being given candy" - Minh Nhat smiled and recalled. Not only did she love making and eating Vietnamese food, the Russian bride also had a hobby of cleaning wooden furniture in the house. The first time she celebrated Tet in Vietnam was an experience she will always remember. Everything was new, surprising and full of excitement. Nhat said that every Tet, everyone in the family had to clean and wipe a lot of wooden tables and chairs in the church in the countryside, and his wife was always excited to join in. She loves cleaning tables and chairs with many small patterns, always showing delight when threading a rag through small gaps to meticulously clean every detail.

Kira also learned to care for relatives during holidays because she understood that this is a characteristic of Vietnamese culture. Mr. Nhat said that in Russia, people often tend to live an individualistic lifestyle, a wedding sometimes has only a few dozen close relatives attending, completely different from crowded weddings with hundreds of relatives and friends in Vietnam. His wife always tries to accept and adapt to that cultural difference, as well as get used to multi-generational family life. Looking back on their marriage journey, Minh Nhat confided that the most difficult time in their relationship was when Kira had just given birth. He quit his online teaching job in Russia to have more time to take care of his wife and children. However, conflicts still occur because both are tired when they are first-time parents. To preserve the family, they often sit down to talk about problems and proactively apologize when they are wrong. The Russian-Vietnamese couple always keeps the habit of listening to each other, sharing with each other all the stories in life and considers this the secret to creating a happy relationship. "When falling in love and deciding to marry someone of a different nationality, both decided to accept each other's differences and gradually become more perfect. To do that, you need to truly love, always understand, be ready to forgive and be patient with each other every day" , Minh Nhat said. The lovely aspects of life with his beautiful Russian wife are often shared by Nhat on social networks with clips of Kira cooking, learning Vietnamese culture... The Kira Family channel of the Russian-Vietnamese couple on TikTok attracts 1 million followers.
