According to Associate Professor Dr. Dinh Trong Thinh, senior lecturer at the Academy of Finance, with 2 billion VND, investors need to consider their investment goals and tastes to allocate assets appropriately.

Regarding the savings investment channel, at the end of last year, savings interest rates were anchored at 11 - 12%/year in the context of many banks racing to mobilize capital. However, entering 2023, savings interest rates turned to decrease rapidly and strongly. Up to now, 12-month term interest rates at some major banks are below 5.5%/year, lower than the COVID-19 period.

However, with its stability and low risk, bank savings is a form preferred by many Vietnamese people.

The advantages of high liquidity and flexible terms make this form suitable for short-term financial plans or emergency funds.

However, deposit interest rates are often lower than other investment channels. In the long term, investors' deposits will be difficult to preserve due to inflation. At this time, many people are afraid of losing money, so they still accept depositing money in banks even though the deposit interest rate is low.

As for real estate, this is still an unstable investment channel with no bright spots. Some real estate is priced lower than before, but buyers at this time may not want to borrow money from banks.

Mr. Vo Hong Thang - Director of Consulting Services & Project Development DKRA Group - commented that saving or investing in real estate both have their own advantages and disadvantages. Investors need to consider their finances, needs and the products they invest in to make the best choice.

Specifically, although savings interest rates are low, many people still choose this as a safe profit channel.

" When depositing money in a bank, the risk is low, investors also know the specific interest rate they will receive or how much money they will receive if they withdraw their interest early. In addition, when depositing savings in a bank, investors can easily withdraw money when needed. If they withdraw money before maturity, they will receive interest at the interest rate calculated according to the interest rate of non-term savings deposits ," Mr. Thang shared.

Regarding real estate investment, Mr. Thang said that although the real estate market in the third quarter of 2023 is still difficult, the land segment still has bright spots in localities with rapid urbanization and potential for infrastructure development, industrial parks, administrative centers or new urban areas.

For example, land in big cities, or areas with full utilities and infrastructure connections, close to industrial parks, the price level will be stable and have room to increase in the medium term.

" In the coming time, land will recover more slowly than some other segments. The recovery will mainly come from legal products, located in areas with good infrastructure investment, close to the central area. Investing in land today, in the long term, is still a potential type if investors know how to choose products with use value as well as the ability to exploit to create a stable cash flow ," said Mr. Thang.

Meanwhile, according to financial and banking expert Nguyen Tri Hieu, there is no attractive investment channel at this time.

The stock market is unpredictable, sometimes it goes up to more than 1,200 points, but sometimes it goes down to less than 1,100 points. Real estate is not a profitable investment channel at the moment because the market has no consumption capacity. The gold channel sometimes goes up, sometimes goes down and is very risky because the difference is quite high compared to the world. The foreign currency channel has the potential to increase but there is no guarantee and people cannot invest ,” Mr. Hieu analyzed.

From that, expert Nguyen Tri Hieu commented that it can be seen that, among the 5 investment channels: stocks, real estate, gold, foreign currency and bank deposits, deposits are still more stable than other channels and are very safe.

Sharing the same view, expert Le Dang Doanh also said that in this context, people with money should not be too risky in investing in the stock market, real estate or gold, but the most stable long-term investment channel is still saving in the bank.

Bank deposits at the moment do not offer high interest rates or large profits, but looking around other investment channels, no channel is as effective as savings deposits. In particular, savings deposits are also the channel with the highest safety factor ,” said Mr. Doanh.
