General Secretary To Lam emphasized that in the context of globalization and the fourth industrial revolution, digital technology has been affirming its key driving role, promoting economic and social development.
On January 15, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Information and Communications chaired the 6th annual National Forum on Developing Vietnamese Digital Technology Enterprises with the theme "Mastering digital technology, mastering Vietnam's digital transformation process with Vietnamese digital technology enterprises."

The forum was attended by representatives of domestic research and training organizations; associations in the field of information technology, Make in Vietnam digital technology business groups; experts in the field of digital technology; economic-commercial, research and training organizations; a number of diplomatic organizations; multinational digital technology corporations and representatives of foreign investors in Vietnam.
At the Forum, many presentations were made on orientations, policies and development solutions in the coming period for the semiconductor industry and artificial intelligence; building breakthrough institutions and policies to provide incentives, support, encouragement and call for the gathering of strength in the development of digital technology enterprises; proposing solutions for research and mastering digital technology to help accelerate the implementation of the digital transformation revolution in Vietnam and bring Vietnam to a breakthrough in the new era.
Efforts for self-reliance, technological autonomy and strategic technology development
Speaking at the Forum, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that in the context of globalization and the fourth industrial revolution, digital technology has been affirming its key driving role, promoting economic and social development.
Digital transformation is not only an inevitable trend, but also an urgent requirement for Vietnam to narrow the development gap with the region and the world. At the same time, digital transformation is a long-term strategy, helping to enhance national competitiveness and consolidate Vietnam's position on the global economic map. However, to achieve these goals, strong commitment from the Government, companionship from businesses, active participation from workers and all people are needed.
The General Secretary expressed his delight at the strong developments in Vietnam's digital technology sector in recent times. The digital technology startup ecosystem is growing stronger and stronger. Vietnam's digital technology industry has become one of the important economic sectors, contributing significantly to economic growth and sustainable development.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, congratulating and praising the Vietnamese digital technology business community for their continuous efforts and achievements, the General Secretary highly appreciated the contributions and roles of Vietnamese digital businesses in creating innovative products and solutions, applied in many fields, from manufacturing to services, contributing to strongly promoting the national digital transformation process, improving the quality of growth and improving people's lives.
The General Secretary also frankly pointed out the limitations that need to be overcome to ensure the strong development of digital technology and national digital technology enterprises. Digital technology development is still uneven among regions, with some localities facing many difficulties in applying and deploying technology, creating a large gap in accessing and using digital technology. Digital infrastructure is also a big challenge, as many areas have not yet fully invested in modern technology, affecting the ability to connect nationwide...
In the spirit of Resolution No. 57, which is likened to “Contract 10” in agriculture, the General Secretary suggested that in the coming period, the industry and digital technology enterprises must strive to be self-reliant, autonomous in technology and develop strategic technology, which is the foundation for building an independent and self-reliant economy. Invest heavily in modern technology infrastructure, with large capacity, wide bandwidth, synchronous and in accordance with international standards to facilitate national connectivity and digital economic development.
Promoting the development of digital technology ecosystem
The General Secretary pointed out that it is necessary to strengthen policies to attract high-tech talent, build an attractive working environment, support scientific research and innovation, thereby enhancing domestic capacity and creating leading international digital technology enterprises. Promote the development of a digital technology ecosystem with close links between enterprises, universities, research institutes and supporting organizations. Gradually form and develop digital economic fields such as Digital Government, Digital Economy, Digital Society. Create conditions for digital technology enterprises to develop technological solutions applied to state management, improve the quality of public services, promote e-transactions and increase access to information technology for people.
The General Secretary suggested improving capacity and global competitiveness, striving to put Vietnam in the top 3 leading countries in Southeast Asia in digital technology research and development by 2030, creating at least 5 large digital technology enterprises with international competitiveness. Each digital technology enterprise must set high and ambitious development goals and continuously improve both the quantity and quality of human resources. Strengthen cooperation with leading technology organizations and enterprises in the world, attract more digital technology research and production organizations to Vietnam. At the same time, create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the global value chain and bring their digital technology products to the international market.
Vietnamese digital technology enterprises need to have greater consensus, determination, and aspiration; need to see this not only as an opportunity, but also as the responsibility of each enterprise in contributing to realizing the great goals set by the Party and State in Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW.
Digital businesses focus on building breakthrough products and services, creating real value for the benefit of the people and the economy, meeting domestic and international market needs. Let's take advantage of the strengths of intelligence, human resources, creative entrepreneurship and Vietnamese spirit to contribute to the strong development of the country in the new era.
The Ministry of Information and Communications, as the leading state management agency for the digital technology industry, is responsible for leading and orienting development, creating conditions for digital technology enterprises to develop strongly; it is necessary to overcome limitations and shortcomings, closely coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to develop policies, promote the application of advanced technology, and at the same time perfect digital infrastructure, enhance the competitiveness of Vietnam's digital technology industry; it is necessary to focus on training high-quality human resources, encourage research and development and build a sustainable technology ecosystem./.
