On August 4, Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee held a ceremony to launch the movement "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" in the province by 2025 and held a ceremony to hand over gratitude houses and start construction of Great Solidarity houses.
Attending the event were comrade Truong Tan Sang, former Politburo member, former President; Acting Secretary of Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee Ho Thi Hoang Yen; Permanent Deputy Secretary of Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee Tran Thanh Lam, Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee Tran Ngoc Tam and representatives of sponsoring units.
After reviewing, Ben Tre still has 695 policy households, 1,658 poor households, 1,199 near-poor households with housing difficulties that need support to renovate and repair. Based on that reality, former President Truong Tan Sang mobilized funding to share difficulties with people in the province.
To date, 250 houses of gratitude, each worth 70 million VND, have been started and basically completed, some have been handed over to the people. In addition, depending on the economic conditions of each family, they can contribute more money to make the houses more durable.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee Tran Ngoc Tam thanked former President Truong Tan Sang and sponsors for their attention and sharing. The above support contributes to promoting socio-economic development in the province, and is also a driving force for the province to better, faster and more effectively implement the goal of eliminating temporary houses, supporting the construction of houses for people in difficult circumstances; creating jobs, livelihoods, and improving the income of people in the province.
Mr. Tam suggested that all levels, sectors and localities should unite and respond to the emulation movement to complete the goal of eliminating temporary housing in 2025 as launched by the Prime Minister. “In particular, priority should be given to supporting poor households, near-poor households, and households with housing difficulties under the policy, but it must be practical, effective, public, democratic and have a suitable plan and roadmap, ensuring completion on schedule,” Mr. Tam noted.
On the same morning, Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee held a ceremony to hand over a house of gratitude to the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhan (residing in Phu Hung Commune, Ben Tre City); and started construction of a Great Solidarity house for the family of Mr. Pham Van Phu (residing in Ward 4, Ben Tre City). This is one of 1,000 houses of gratitude and Great Solidarity for poor households, near-poor households, and households with housing difficulties that are being built in the area.
