Thousands of people flock to the Han River to watch the boat race.

In her opening speech, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi said that in recent days, Da Nang city has been bustling with the festive atmosphere and today on the poetic Han River, the competition between male and female racing boat teams will continue to take place, with the joy, excitement and stormy offensive spirit of the historic liberation day of Da Nang in 1975.

“The 2025 Da Nang Traditional Boat Race is not only a sports competition but also an opportunity to review the history and cultural traditions of the nation. The boats rushing forward, along with the strong movements of the athletes, besides recalling beautiful memories, also demonstrate the strength, will and determination to move forward of the people of Da Nang”, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized.

The 2025 Da Nang City Traditional Boat Racing Tournament is organized by the Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with the Vietnam Television Center for the Central Highlands - Central Region (VTV8), with the participation of nearly 500 male and female athletes from 22 boat racing teams in Da Nang city and Quang Nam province.

17 men's racing teams

In the men's event, 17 teams will compete over 5 laps, equivalent to 7.5km.

The women's event will feature five teams competing over three laps, equivalent to 4.5km. The teams will compete on 17-person boats, following the traditional racing boat model.

According to records, from early morning, thousands of people and tourists gathered on both sides of the Han River, eagerly awaiting the exciting competition. The racing teams, with their fierce competitive spirit, brought breathtaking chases, creating a vibrant and dramatic atmosphere, making the audience excited and satisfied.

Coming to watch the boat race early, Mr. Le Duc Huy (residing in Son Tra district) shared: "Every year I eagerly wait for this boat race, I have to go to cheer and encourage the rowers."

After fierce competition, Trung Luong - Hoa Xuan team won first place in the women's category. Hai Chau and Thanh Khe teams ranked second and third respectively.

In the men's category, the first prize went to Son Tra District Cultural - Sports Center, Dong Hai - Cam Thang Club won the second prize and Hai Chau District Cultural - Sports Center won the third prize.
