The festival has been formed and developed for hundreds of years and has increasingly attracted a large number of people and tourists from all over the world to participate. This shows the strong and everlasting vitality of the festival.

According to the elders of Hai Cat village, in the early stages, the Hue Nam Temple Festival took place within the temple area, later with the participation of Hai Cat villagers and gradually became widely popular among the people.

Nowadays, Hue Nam Temple Festival has the characteristics of the Holy disciples worshiping Mother Goddess in Vietnam, and has truly become one of the typical cultural products of Hue land.

Moreover, the Hue Nam Electric Festival has a strong influence on many regions across the country, receiving special attention from tens of thousands of people.

Through many different stages, the Hue Nam Temple Festival is still held regularly twice a year in the third and seventh lunar months, with important forms such as the ceremony to welcome the Holy Mother and the deities at the 352 Chi Lang Temple through the procession by road and waterway; the Cao Nieu ceremony, the Chanh Te ceremony at Hue Nam Temple and Hai Cat communal house, religious activities, and performing the Hau Dong ritual on the altars.

For the first time within the framework of Hue Festival 2022, the Hue Nam Temple Festival in March will organize the Holy Mother and Four Palaces Council welcoming ceremony by road, aiming to recreate the unique and large-scale folk scene of the Holy Mother welcoming ceremony, which was once held in the 1960s.

This is the basis for the Organizing Committee of the Hue Nam Temple Festival as well as the Mother Goddess worshiping community to continue to maintain this ritual by road (every 2 years), exactly as previous generations have done.

Dr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City, said that the Hue Nam Temple Festival has brought people closer together, contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.

Through many historical ups and downs, the Hue Nam Temple Festival is still held according to traditional rituals imbued with Vietnamese folk culture. This is an occasion where the beauty of the Vietnamese practice of worshipping the Mother Goddesses of the Three Realms (an Intangible Cultural Heritage recognized by UNESCO) is uniquely expressed.
