The film, directed by Bui Thac Chuyen, depicts the lives and fighting process of guerrillas in the Cu Chi tunnels during the resistance war against the US. In the film, Quang Tuan plays Tu Dap, a character inspired by the armed forces hero To Van Duc - who created the mine, destroying many enemy tanks.

As soon as he read the script, Quang Tuan was immediately drawn to the authenticity of the story. To get into character, he embarked on a strict weight loss regimen, going from 77kg to 63kg in two months. Every week, he had to take a photo to report his weight to the director and maintain a strict training regimen, even during Tet.

In addition to changing his appearance, Quang Tuan also researched to convey the determined eyes of soldiers during wartime. He shared: "The soldiers of the past did not ask for material things or personal pleasures. They only focused all their spirit on fighting. That created bright, sharp and determined eyes. I had to express that spirit in the film."

During filming, Quang Tuan had to perform many dangerous scenes, including running through a series of exploding petrol bombs. The heat and pressure from the explosion was so strong that it pushed him far away.
In another scene, he had to dive underwater for 3–4 minutes with only a breathing tube. With his chest tight, he could only listen to the gunshots to time his resurfacing, constantly asking himself: "Is my heart still pounding, do I have enough air? Can my chest take it?"

Before playing the role of Tu Dap, Quang Tuan had the opportunity to talk with Hero To Van Duc and live with veterans to absorb the style and demeanor of wartime soldiers. In particular, he was directly instructed by him in the scenes of making and planting bombs.
"Uncle Duc was very enthusiastic in sharing real stories. When he commented that everything was very real, true to the battlefield of the past. Hearing that compliment from an experienced person, I felt extremely proud and happy." - Quang Tuan shared.
Tunnel: Sun in the Dark brings together a cast of talented actors such as Thai Hoa, Cao Minh, Quang Tuan, Ho Thu Anh, and young faces such as Diem Hang Lamoon, Hoang Minh Triet, Khanh Ly...
The film is scheduled to be released from April 4 in theaters nationwide.
