The Dien Bien Phu victory is a brilliant milestone in the history of our nation. In order for the younger generation to understand the historical significance and importance of the Dien Bien Phu victory, the Veterans Association of Yen Mo district has stepped up propaganda and education of traditions in schools.
Recently, the Association of War Veterans of Yen Mo district in coordination with Yen Phong Secondary School organized a traditional talk program about the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory for over 550 students of the school. Here, the students were told by the reporters of the Association of War Veterans of the district about the process of our army and people winning the victory that "resounded throughout the five continents, shook the earth". The story emphasized the great leadership role of the Party, the brilliant strategic vision of President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap, along with the fierce battles, the determination to fight and win of our army and the heroic and resilient examples that contributed to the Dien Bien Phu Victory such as: Be Van Dan used his body as a gun mount; Phan Dinh Giot used his body to fill the loophole; To Vinh Dien used his body to save the artillery... Each story helped the students understand more about the indomitable will, overcoming all hardships and sacrifices of our army and people, while arousing pride in the revolutionary tradition of the nation.
Le Thi Mai Anh, a student of grade 8A, was moved: Listening to the war veterans talk about the Dien Bien Phu Victory, I feel very proud. When I understand more about history, I am more grateful and appreciate the sacrifices of the heroes and martyrs so that our homeland and country can have peace today. We vow to try our best to study well, strive to become good children, good students, and good grandchildren of Uncle Ho.
Comrade Luu Xuan Ha, Chairman of the Association of War Veterans of Yen Mo district, said: The Dien Bien Phu victory was the result of the correct and talented leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh. 70 years have passed, but the significance and historical lessons of that victory still resonate forever, motivating each cadre and member of the War Veterans Association to light up the revolutionary tradition for the younger generation. In order to effectively educate the younger generation about the tradition, the District War Veterans Association has developed a plan, directed and guided the grassroots War Veterans Association to coordinate with local Party committees, authorities, and the education and training sector to organize a peak period of talking about the Dien Bien Phu victory in schools in the area.
In addition, the Association pays attention to building and fostering a team of reporters with capacity and experience, closely following the political tasks of the locality, actively propagating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; promoting the achievements of the Dien Bien Phu Victory in the cause of building and renewing the homeland.
Since the beginning of the year, the Association of War Veterans at all levels in Yen Mo district has coordinated to organize 20 traditional talks for students of secondary schools, high schools and some primary schools in the district about the Dien Bien Phu Victory. Besides introducing the significance and importance of this historical event, the War Veterans informed about the current political situation in the country and internationally; integrated the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State and the socio-economic achievements of the country and the province.
Along with organizing a high point of traditional talks for students in schools, war veterans in the district continue to promote the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, take the lead in emulation movements and carry out important tasks such as disseminating and educating the law on the implementation of the Law on Military Service, mobilizing children and young people in the family and the local youth to enthusiastically join the army; educating and reforming young people who violate the law; actively donating and supporting the construction of houses for war veterans in Dien Bien; coordinating with local Party committees and authorities to visit and give gifts to Dien Bien soldiers in the district; visiting and encouraging sick war veterans; repairing and embellishing martyrs' cemeteries...
The Dien Bien Phu victory ended the nine-year long resistance war against the French colonialists of our nation. This was the result of the bravery, intelligence and heroism of the Vietnamese revolution. The attention and nurturing of revolutionary traditions for the younger generation has contributed to arousing patriotism, national pride and the determination of the youth to study hard, strive to follow in the footsteps of their fathers and brothers, and contribute to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
