The market funded by the chairman of Hoa Lam Group will be operational before Tet.

The Department of Industry and Trade and the People's Committee of Son Tinh district, Quang Ngai confirmed that before Tet, small traders will trade at the market sponsored by the chairman of Hoa Lam Group in Tinh Giang commune.

On the morning of January 6, Mr. Vo Quoc Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Ngai province, said: "The Department has just met with the People's Committee of Son Tinh district regarding the market sponsored by the chairman of Hoa Lam Group (about 12 billion VND). Legal procedures will continue to be completed, and people's trading must be completed before Tet."

According to Mr. Hung, the obstacles to putting Dong Ke market into operation are not too big. The locality is confused because the market is built from sponsored capital and has not completed the price determination procedure, so the locality is still confused in organizing the auction to put it into operation.

"This afternoon, the Department of Industry and Trade will have a document reporting to the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province and send it to the district for instructions on implementation and putting Dong Ke market into operation," said Mr. Hung.

Regarding market classification, Mr. Hung said that according to the provincial planning and criteria in Decree 60 of the Government on market classification, Dong Ke market is a type 3 market managed by the People's Committee of Son Tinh district, assigned to the unit for operation and exploitation.

In the immediate future, the locality will make an exploitation plan for people to come and trade.

Regarding determining investment value and establishing public ownership of Dong Ke market, the Department of Industry and Trade will continue to guide the district. It is not true that the market cannot operate if the procedures have not been completed.

"This is a market sponsored by the chairman of Hoa Lam Group. So the auction is only to have funds for market maintenance, not to recover investment costs," said Mr. Hung.

Mr. Truong Cong Hoa - Vice Chairman of Son Tinh District People's Committee - said that the Department of Industry and Trade has agreed. The District People's Committee has directed the People's Committee of Tinh Giang Commune to develop a plan, send it to the District People's Committee on January 6 for the district to approve, and organize an auction to bring people in to trade.

"Ms. Lam has the heart to sponsor the construction of a market for her fellow countrymen. But many financial principles such as determining the total value of assets must be implemented by the government to establish public ownership of Dong Ke market.

For now, based on the acceptance report and the market donation report, the commune will let people do business before Tet. Other procedures will be completed by Ms. Lam later," said Mr. Hoa.

Previously, Tuoi Tre published an article reflecting on the fact that Dong Ke market (Tinh Giang commune, Son Tinh district), funded by Ms. Tran Thi Lam, chairwoman of the board of directors of Hoa Lam Group, was completed in July 2024, but has not yet been put into operation.

The new market was built on the old market site, so from March 2023 when construction began, traders had to move to the area near the An Kim village stadium to set up temporary tents to do business.

While the new market is modern and fully equipped with "closed doors and locks", the traders are doing business in a humid area with serious environmental pollution. The people hope that Dong Ke market will soon be put into use.
