On February 23, the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) said that this unit is urgently implementing the task of taking over state management of testing and granting driving licenses from the Ministry of Transport to the Ministry of Public Security.

The most basic principle is not to interrupt, not to disrupt, not to affect the normal activities of people and businesses, ensuring that all activities of agencies and organizations take place continuously, according to a representative of the Traffic Police Department.

Currently, the police sector is urgently completing the institutions and legal documents on testing and granting driving licenses, organizing the apparatus, assigning tasks, training traffic police officers to act as examiners, and upgrading and supplementing the database systems, software systems, etc. to ensure the most convenient service to the people.

It is expected that people who need to issue or change their driving licenses can carry out procedures through online public services and submit their applications directly.

For online procedures, individuals who need to change their driver's license access the national public service portal or the Ministry of Public Security.

From there, declare according to the instructions and must complete the obligation to pay the driver's license exchange fee through the payment function of the online public service system.

The results will then be delivered to the people after 5 working days (if registering for postal service), and at the same time, electronic data about the people's driver's license will be automatically updated in the electronic environment via the information lookup page of the Traffic Police Department and the national identification application (VNeID).

People can use the VNeID application to present their driver's license to authorities during inspection.

At the same time, the traffic police force also uses the electronic environment to check and authenticate through a specialized application, requiring people to provide information about their personal identification code.

For direct exchange or re-issuance of driver's licenses, people who need to exchange must prepare a set of documents according to regulations and send them directly to the provincial traffic police department or the police of the commune, ward or town where the reception point is located.

Here, people are guided to carry out other necessary procedures such as taking photos and completing the obligation to pay the driver's license exchange fee upon receipt.

The results will be received after 5 working days, and the driver's license data will be updated on the electronic environment (VNeID application and information lookup page of the Traffic Police Department).

People receive results at the reception point or have them delivered to their home if they need them.
