Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) has just sent an official dispatch to the Southern Airports Authority and the Northern Airports Authority regarding the implementation of a trial operation of cashless collection and non-stop collection at Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai International Airports. The trial period is from February 6 (December 27 ) to March 7, according to the content of Official Dispatch No. 10 dated January 29 of the Prime Minister.

According to ACV, recently, this unit has coordinated with Digital Technology Company (HITD) to conduct surveys, develop plans for equipment installation, and connect the non-cash and automatic non-stop toll collection system at the two airports. Up to now, the technical solution for equipment installation has been basically completed, ready to deploy the pilot toll collection.

The installed devices are combined with the Tap & Go method based on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, similar to the method at expressway toll stations. Along with that, the system also has ticket checking software, central toll collection, administration, virtualization server, firewall, post-audit monitoring software to ensure the airport non-stop toll collection system operates smoothly.

Currently, airport toll stations across the country, especially at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports, still collect fees manually. Drivers must stop their vehicles in front of the toll station to pay in cash, causing frequent congestion at the station area, causing frustration for drivers and passengers. Leaders of the Ministry of Transport assessed that the pilot non-stop toll collection at airports will ensure social benefits, increase convenience, create convenience for service users, and contribute to relieving congestion at airport gateways, especially during the peak Tet holiday.

It is known that ACV is collecting service fees for vehicles picking up and dropping off passengers at two airport groups. For Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai, and Da Nang airports, vehicles entering and leaving within 10 minutes will be charged 10,000 VND/trip for vehicles with less than 9 seats, 15,000 VND/trip for vehicles with 10-30 seats, and 25,000 VND/trip for vehicles with 30 seats or more.

The remaining airports charge a fee of VND5,000/trip for cars with less than 9 seats, VND10,000/trip for cars with 10-16 seats, VND15,000/trip for cars with 16-29 seats, and VND25,000/trip for cars with 30 seats or more. Cars entering the airport for more than 10 minutes will be charged an additional parking service fee.
