President Joe Biden has ended his re-election campaign and endorsed Harris for the Nov. 5 election against former President Donald Trump. Recent polls show Harris and Trump nearly neck-and-neck, setting up a tight race.

Mr Trump raised $331 million in the second quarter, surpassing the Biden campaign’s $264 million. Ms Harris won a majority of delegates at the Democratic National Convention, securing her party’s nomination next month.
“Our vice president is the official nominee,” said Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison. “We will have an official vote on August 1.”
Biden withdrew from the race amid questions about his age and health after a poor performance in a debate with Trump in late June. He pledged to remain in office until his term ends on January 20, 2025. Harris's entry has turned the tide and energized the Democratic campaign.
Republican attacks on Harris have intensified since she became the all-but-certain presidential nominee. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said Harris was “very mediocre” and predicted Democrats would try to distance her from the policies of the Biden administration.
Mr Trump’s fundraising campaign surged after his conviction in late May, and an assassination plot against him this month is also expected to boost campaign contributions.
