Compensation payment, land acquisition for construction of Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway within 2 months

According to the Management Board of the City Traffic Construction Investment Project (Transportation Board), the construction of Component Project 1 - Investment in the construction of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway (phase 1) including construction packages using PPP capital will also start in January 2026. The deadline for completion and traffic opening of the entire project is "finalized" on December 31, 2027.

To build the section through Ho Chi Minh City, the locality will reclaim land from 1,877 households in 11 communes of Cu Chi district. Of these, 254 cases are eligible for resettlement land; 178 cases are building houses on agricultural land and 11 cases have non-agricultural land with a total area of ​​up to 76,466m2.

In addition, the locality will also reclaim at least 173.2 hectares of agricultural land, of which land managed by state agencies and organizations accounts for 95%. The total amount of compensation, support and resettlement for affected households in the area is about VND5,270 billion.

However, according to the Traffic Department, the counting and measuring work will only be completed before April 30; the approval of the resettlement compensation project will also only be completed before June 30. After that, the locality will carry out the compensation payment and land recovery.

Meanwhile, the locality must ensure that by the end of August, there will be a site available for the commencement of the investment project to build a residential road and an overpass across the highway; construction packages using PPP capital will commence in early 2026. Whether or not the land recovery from the above large number of households can be completed depends on the implementation results of Cu Chi district.
