Students show off their talents at the 2025 "Speak Chinese" Contest Finals

NDO - On March 26, in Hanoi, the best candidates who passed the preliminary round entered the final round of the "Speaking Chinese Well" contest organized by the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture (University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) in coordination with the Chinese Cultural Center in Hanoi.

The contest is an event within the framework of activities to celebrate the Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year, the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (January 18, 1950 - January 18, 2025), as well as the "International Chinese Language Day" towards the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture, University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Attending the event were Mr. Truong Duc Son, Director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Hanoi; Dr. Pham Minh Tien, Head of the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture; along with many lecturers, students, language experts and relatives to cheer on the contestants.

After the general knowledge test about history, culture, people, and customs of China, the contestants continued to compete for points in two parts: personal presentation and talent performance.

The presentation topic was: "As a young Vietnamese person in the digital age, how would you tell a "Vietnamese Story" in Chinese?". In the talent competition, students from the Chinese Language and Culture Department brought to the judges and the audience dances, plays, calligraphy, poetry recitals... with traditional Chinese cultural colors mixed with humorous and youthful moments.

Student Dang Hoang Minh Hieu won the final with highly rated performances.

Finally, the 5 contestants with the highest total scores entered the on-site speaking round, randomly selecting questions and answering directly according to their ideas. As a result, the first prize went to male student Dang Hoang Minh Hieu (class 23C7). The 2 second prizes were awarded to Nguyen Thi Lien Anh and Trinh Thi Thu Huong (class 22C5). The organizing committee also awarded 3 third prizes, 6 consolation prizes and 1 prize for the highest number of votes via social networks.

Sharing her joy after the contest, student Trinh Thi Thu Huong (class 22C5) said: "With my presentation, I quoted from Uncle Ho's poem as well as based on my previous experience introducing visitors to the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Chinese, thereby calling on our Chinese students in particular, as well as the young generation of Vietnam in general, to join hands to contribute to building a forever green and sustainable Vietnam-China friendship."

The jury representative awarded the second prize to students Nguyen Thi Lien Anh and Trinh Thi Thu Huong.

On this occasion, the representative of the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture emphasized that the contest is not only a challenging playground for oral proficiency, but also an opportunity for young Vietnamese people to express their love for Chinese culture and language, promote their talents, creativity and ability to present in front of a crowd, thereby becoming ambassadors contributing to building a bridge of language and cultural exchange and deepening the connection between the two countries of Vietnam and China.
