Ahead of the Listening to Farmers Speak Forum taking place on the morning of October 14 in Hanoi, organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dan Viet reporter had a conversation with the Chairman of the Lai Chau Farmers' Union about his and Lai Chau Farmers' Union members' expectations for this forum.
National Farmers Forum – A bridge between farmers, businesses and the Government
Talking to reporters, Mr. Duong Dinh Duc, Chairman of the Lai Chau Farmers' Association, shared: I am very interested in and closely follow the National Farmers' Forum - This is an annual event in the series of events "Pride of Vietnamese Farmers", which is very important to farmers nationwide. This year is the first time the Forum is held with the theme "Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Association - Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development listens to farmers speak".
The Forum was attended by two leaders representing the two agencies, namely Comrade Luong Quoc Doan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union and Comrade Le Minh Hoan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

This event is of special importance, a great opportunity for outstanding farmers, businesses, and cooperatives to share difficulties and problems in the fields of agriculture, farmers, and rural areas. Reflecting thoughts, aspirations, recommendations, and proposals to the Vietnam Farmers' Union, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; thereby advising and proposing specific solutions and policies to serve green, sustainable agricultural and rural production.
I am very pleased with the message of this year's Forum "Sharing together, listening together", the Forum was organized in an open format co-chaired by the President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union Luong Quoc Doan and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan. This program can create a bridge between farmers, businesses and the Government, thereby promoting policies to support agricultural and rural development.
The Chairman of the Lai Chau Farmers' Association has high expectations for the 9th National Farmers' Forum in 2024 and hopes that the Party, State, and Government will have special mechanisms and policies for remote, isolated, and particularly disadvantaged areas of the country. Photo: HND
What I find particularly impressive is that this year, in addition to honoring 63 outstanding Vietnamese farmers, 63 outstanding cooperatives were also honored. This is a very meaningful new feature for farmer members nationwide.
“I have great confidence in the 9th National Farmers' Forum in 2024. Through the two ministers, the opinions, thoughts and aspirations of farmers across the country will continue to receive attention, support and favorable conditions in terms of mechanisms and policies from the Party, State, higher-level Associations and local authorities.
With the hope that after this Forum, remote, isolated and extremely disadvantaged areas of Lai Chau in particular and the whole country in general will have special mechanisms and policies. That is a great source of encouragement for farmers in disadvantaged areas and also a driving force to help farmers, cooperatives and enterprises facilitate production, business and economic development; contributing with the whole Party and people to build the country to be more and more prosperous", said comrade Duong Dinh Duc.
