Bridge to bring preferential loans to women members

As the President of the Women's Union of Phu Minh commune, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet is not afraid of hardship, always exemplary, leading the movement to build "Loyal - Creative - Responsible - Elegant" Capital Women, implementing the Project "Supporting Capital Women to Start a Business" to help female members access policy capital for economic development.

The Commune Women's Union boldly reported to the Commune People's Committee to sign a trust contract with the Social Policy Bank (SPB) of Soc Son district on lending policy credit capital to poor households, near-poor households and other policy beneficiaries in the area to help people lacking capital in the commune access loans for economic development.

Mr. Tran Quang Huy - Deputy Director of the Social Policy Bank of Soc Son district - said: "The Women's Union of Phu Minh commune is a typical unit of Soc Son district. In particular, comrade Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet - President of the Women's Union of the commune - is a very dedicated and responsible person with her work, especially in the work of inspecting, supervising and guiding members to borrow capital and use the loan capital effectively".

The Commune Women's Union is managing 6 Savings and Loan Groups with more than 291 borrowers, outstanding debt of over 16.69 billion VND, most of the people borrow capital to solve employment, and build, renovate, and repair clean water and sanitation works. The capital is used effectively by the people and the principal and interest are paid on time.

Over the years, the Savings and Loan Groups have been rated Good, with no households overdue or late in paying principal and interest. Comrade Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet was awarded by the Hanoi People's Committee for her outstanding achievements in policy credit activities.

Ms. Duong Thi Bien - Head of the Savings and Loan Group of the Women's Union of Phu Minh Commune - said: "Comrade Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet is a dedicated and responsible President of the Women's Union. She regularly checks, supervises, urges and reminds us, the group leaders, to properly perform our duties according to the authorization contract signed with the district's Social Policy Bank. My Savings and Loan Group is managing 60 borrowers, with outstanding debt of over 3.5 billion VND".

Borrowers for business are very diverse, some invest in gardening, some in grocery, clothing, and cosmetics. In particular, with the development of the market economy, many female members after graduating have opened service businesses such as hair cutting, shampooing, beauty, makeup, hairdressing, nail care or online sales to meet market tastes.

Thanks to loans from the Social Policy Bank, many customers have opened their own businesses without having to work for others; not only creating jobs for themselves and their families but also hiring more workers in the area. For many years, policy credit capital has been used effectively, with no household overdue.

Meeting Ms. Nguyet who was busy preparing activities for the March 8 holiday, she happily shared: "My joy is to help many women members develop their economy every day, get rich legitimately with their hands, minds and right in their own homeland".
