On December 5, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh signed a decision to award the "Fatherland's Gratitude" certificate to 12 martyrs of the Ministry of National Defense.

The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of National Defense to coordinate with relevant ministries, agencies, and local authorities to organize thoughtful visits, encourage, and share the pain and loss of military families;
It is necessary to implement the best policies and regimes for soldiers and their families and relatives; organize thoughtful funerals and quickly overcome and resolve the consequences.
The Ministry of National Defense urgently organized a crime scene investigation to clarify the cause of the incident; reviewed and inspected all procedures in command and operation of the exercise; organized lessons learned, overcame limitations, and ensured absolute safety in training and exercises. Focused on stabilizing the mindset of officers and soldiers throughout the army; strictly maintained training and combat readiness according to regulations.
At the National Shooting Range Area 3 (Xuan Tam Commune, Xuan Loc District, Dong Nai Province), at 8:27 p.m. on December 2, while carrying out the task of transporting explosives to the assembly location, there was heavy rain and thunder, so the working group consisting of a number of soldiers from Battalion 17, Division 5, Military Region 7 stopped and took a break.
Suddenly, the explosives exploded, causing many casualties.
The initial cause was determined to be a lightning strike that triggered an electric detonator, causing the explosive to explode.
