Lonely Planet selected Cao Bang among the 7 best destinations in Southeast Asia for visitors looking for a place with few people, far from the big city and lost in nature.

Australia's largest travel guidebook publisher Lonely Planet announced a list of the 7 best destinations in Southeast Asia this summer. At each selected destination, travel experts clearly state the most outstanding points to help tourists more conveniently choose for their upcoming vacation.

Cao Bang, a mountainous province in the Northeast with a border of over 300 km, bordering China, is the only representative of Vietnam on the list. The rugged terrain but beautiful nature, with mountains, cave systems and lakes are the advantages that make Cao Bang the best destination in the region for visitors looking for a deserted place, few tourists and lost in nature.

Experts suggest that visitors should start exploring Cao Bang at Phat Tich Truc Lam, a pagoda located near the Chinese border in Dam Thuy commune, Trung Khanh district, and overlooking the rolling hills. Ban Gioc Waterfall, one of the most magical waterfalls in Southeast Asia, according to Lonely Planet , is the next destination that tourists should visit. The nearby Nguom Ngao cave system with a length of several kilometers underground, many stalactites and stalagmites is a destination for visitors who love to explore.

Cao Bang is a place that offers a clear view of the culture and authentic rural life in the Northeast region. Enjoying local cuisine and using Google Translate to communicate with the locals will be a memorable experience for visitors during the trip. Despite being located in a remote area, about 6 hours by car from Hanoi and with few tourists, Cao Bang is still considered by international visitors to be a safe destination with "excellent" infrastructure.

The remaining six Southeast Asian destinations mentioned in the list include: Siargao, Philippines - best place for surfing; Amed, Bali - best place for diving and snorkeling; Khao Sok National Park, Thailand - best place for animal lovers; Luang Prabang, Laos - best place to experience Buddhist culture; Penang, Malaysia - best place to explore history and culture; and Gili Air, Indonesia - best place to relax.
