On December 9, Thu Duc City Police (HCMC) are investigating the case of a man who drove away after seeing traffic police.
Scene of the incident.
At around 2 p.m., a police team from the Patrol Team (HCMC Traffic Police Department) saw a 7-seat car driven by a man running a traffic light at the intersection of Nguyen Huu Canh - Pham Viet Chanh Street, Binh Thanh District, so they asked to stop for inspection.
The car suddenly accelerated and fled, so the task force chased it to Nguyen Van Lac street and stopped it.
A woman opened the door and got out of the car. The car then suddenly accelerated towards Dien Bien Phu Street, crossed Saigon Bridge and then onto Vo Nguyen Giap Street, Thu Duc City. At that moment, the car was running like it was "flying".
At this time, a patrol team from Cat Lai Traffic Police intercepted and asked the driver to stop, but the driver continued to drive. The police used special motorbikes to chase after him.
At the intersection of Vo Nguyen Giap - Tay Hoa street, Phuoc Long A ward, Thu Duc city, the car stopped due to heavy traffic.
Police rushed in, drew their guns, and subdued the driver. Initial investigations determined that the driver was carrying many sacks and cartons containing contraband cigarettes.
