Recently, the police have received complaints from people about receiving phone calls or text messages claiming to be from the traffic police, informing them to pay fines. This situation has been repeated many times, causing confusion and frustration among some people.

The common trick of these subjects is to claim to be "traffic police operators" and report traffic violations. However, due to the deadline for handling, the "operator" requests the violator to provide the ticket number. If the "violator" has not received the ticket, the "operator" requests the violator to provide a series of information such as: name, age, address, ID card/citizen identification number, passport number, bank account number... so that the authorities can provide the ticket number, violation, form of handling, and fine amount.
Many people are surprised to hear this announcement, often confused and scared. When hitting this fear, the subjects immediately ask the listener to transfer money to a predetermined account, or provide an OTP code to transfer money to their account under the guise of verification, investigation, and handling of "cold fines".

At the same time, do not forget to "ask" the victim to keep the purpose of transferring money a secret from the family, including bank employees, to appropriate it.
The above situation has been going on for a long time, although the authorities have issued warnings, many people still lose money unjustly due to this trick. In addition, more and more people are receiving similar calls, causing frustration and anger.
Regarding this issue, the Ministry of Public Security said: Circular No. 32/2023/TT-BCA dated August 1, 2023 of the Ministry of Public Security stipulating the tasks, powers, forms, contents and procedures for patrolling, controlling and handling administrative violations of road traffic by the Traffic Police stipulates:
Violations detected through the monitoring system or technical equipment will be notified in writing by the Traffic Police to the vehicle owner, relevant organizations and individuals, and to the police headquarters where the administrative violation was detected.
If traveling is difficult and there are no conditions to directly go to the police headquarters where the administrative violation is detected, then go to the district police headquarters where you reside to resolve the administrative violation case.
The Ministry of Public Security affirmed: the sending of violation notices is done in paper form, or electronically (when meeting the conditions on infrastructure, technology, and information); and at the same time posted on the Electronic Information Page of the Traffic Police Department so that people can proactively look up and comply with the penalty.
In addition, the Traffic Police Department recommends that people be vigilant against fraudulent phone calls through traffic fines. It is recommended that people raise their vigilance and inform their relatives and friends about the above tricks to avoid "falling into the trap of bad guys". When detecting cases with signs of fraud as mentioned above, people should immediately report to the nearest police agency for prevention and control.
