"Clean up" cyberspace

According to statistics from We are social, by the beginning of 2023, our country had 77.93 million Internet users, equivalent to 79.1% of the total population. Each person spends about 6 hours and 23 minutes/day surfing the Internet.

Of these, 64.4 million people aged 18 and over are using social media platforms, accounting for 89% of the total population. Therefore, using social media has become an essential part of life, just like breathing air for many young people.

Platforms like Facebook, Zalo, Instagram and TikTok are widely used to connect and share information with friends and family. In contact with many young voters, I see that many of them spend the most time on social networks, more than time on studying, friends and real relationships. That shows how important social networks are to young people.

We are living in a digital society, where young people are surrounded and influenced by digital life. Social media was invented to facilitate human life, so it is not all good or bad. Good or bad depends on how we use social media.

Many young people have made good use of social networks to update knowledge, improve communication skills, enjoy healthy entertainment, and even use them as a good tool to find new career opportunities and support business and artistic creation...

However, social media also brings many negative impacts such as wasting time, losing focus and real-world social interaction, spreading misinformation and fake news, inappropriate content quality, online harassment and social media dependence.

In my opinion, it is important to ensure that laws and policies related to social media are appropriate and protect the rights and safety of users, especially young people. At the same time, support and educate young people on how to use social media safely and effectively.

“Cleaning up” cyberspace is about making the online environment safer, more positive, and more useful, and this is an important goal. To do that, I think we need to do several things.

First, propaganda and education to increase awareness of cyber security and distinguish between right and wrong information. The public, especially young people, need to learn how to use social networks safely and responsibly.

Second , social media platforms and websites need to have clear content policies that ensure that violent, harmful, and inappropriate content is removed or moderated. They also need to have mechanisms for reporting and responding quickly to bad content.

Third , artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to automatically detect and remove inappropriate content. Human moderation and review of content is also an important part of ensuring accuracy.

Fourth , we need cooperation between countries and international organizations to deal with global online issues through international policies and discussions to ensure cyber security and prevent online crime.

Fifth , create positive, encouraging spaces and create helpful online communities.

Sixth , promote online law enforcement and ensure that regulations on the responsibility of those who post content are followed.

Finally, encourage personal responsibility among social media users, whereby people should ensure that they demonstrate personal responsibility online, do not engage in bad behavior, and help protect a healthy cyberspace for the community.

Behavioral culture is the core of each person.

Etiquette is a person's character and should be reflected both online and offline. However, some people still believe that social media is a "virtual" environment, so they can behave differently than in their everyday lives.

I believe that the separation between the online and offline worlds is no longer as clear as it used to be. Social media has become an important part of everyday life and has an impact on many aspects. A person’s online behavior can have a direct impact on their offline life. For example, what they say on social media can affect their reputation, social relationships, and career opportunities.

In addition, online etiquette should also be considered as part of one’s overall etiquette. Respect, ethics, and standards should be maintained both online and offline.

Social media is often used to interact with others and build relationships. Demonstrating responsible and polite behavior online can be an important factor in building and maintaining social relationships.

Thus, social media should not be considered a purely “virtual” world. It is an important part of modern life and online interactions also need to comply with cultural principles and values. Demonstrating respect, ethics and standards in all online activities is important to build a positive and useful online environment.

Behavior is regulated by culture and ethics based on the understanding and acceptance of a particular society. This can vary from one culture to another. Behavior must follow the standards and values set by society to ensure the cultural and ethical nature of society. That is what we all want to aim for in order to build culture into a regulatory system for national development.

I appreciate the efforts of the Ministry of Information and Communications; the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in correcting inappropriate behavior in cyberspace by artists. I think that in order for each individual to use social networks responsibly, first, understand that you are responsible for what you post and share on social networks. Your statements can affect others and have a great impact on society. Therefore, please master the rules and standards of using social networks in Vietnamese culture, especially the principles of respect, ethics and privacy.

Before posting any content, ask yourself whether it might upset, annoy, or invade the privacy of others. This is especially important if you are posting about someone else.

Also, before sharing information, check its authenticity. Spreading fake news can cause serious harm and destroy people's trust. To avoid privacy violations, always ask for permission before sharing other people's personal information.

Additionally, if you receive feedback or comments from others, respond responsibly and politely. If you feel that a previous statement you made is inappropriate or potentially misleading, consider before deleting or editing it. I believe it is important to do this responsibly and notify others if necessary.

Finally, create a social media usage plan and stick to it to help yourself avoid spending too much time online and create balance with your offline life.
