Earth Hour is one of the annual global events on environmental protection, with the response of many countries and territories.
The Earth Hour campaign has created huge changes in awareness and actions of people around the world in saving energy and protecting the environment.
Starting in Sydney (Australia) in 2007, with more than 2 million participants, the campaign has now attracted the response of nearly 200 countries and territories and billions of people worldwide.
The Earth Hour campaign in Vietnam, co-chaired by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in Vietnam and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, attracted the attention and response of 63 provinces and cities and many people from all walks of life.
Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) is one of the typical units, always actively cooperating to effectively implement the program. 2025 marks the 17th time Vietnam has participated in this campaign.
With the spreading effect of the Earth Hour event, promoting the results of implementation over the years, the Ministry of Industry and Trade launched the movement "All people save energy in response to Earth Hour 2025" with the message "Green transition - Green future."
The movement does not stop at calling for electricity saving, but also aims at a broader goal of encouraging sustainable energy production activities, increasing the use of renewable energy, promoting the application of energy-saving products and equipment, contributing to improving energy efficiency in both economic and environmental aspects.
In order for the program's activities to be meaningful and practically effective, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has requested the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities and Vietnam Electricity Group to coordinate in organizing communication activities in response to Earth Hour taking place in March to attract the attention of many organizations, agencies and people in the provinces and cities to participate in the campaign; mobilize organizations, agencies and people to turn off lights and unnecessary equipment during the event.
Actively responding to the Earth Hour campaign, EVN takes advantage of the spreading power of the internet, digital transformation and social networks to promote propaganda on electricity saving and environmental protection.
The Group has requested its affiliated units to post content responding to the Earth Hour 2025 Campaign on digital media channels such as website, Zalo, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube... with many rich and attractive forms such as infographics, images, video clips, to attract attention and spread widely in the community.
The Group also requires power corporations and power companies in provinces and cities to step up propaganda on electricity saving and environmental protection at customer transaction locations and unit headquarters.
At the same time, mobilize organizations, agencies and customers to respond to the campaign by turning off lights and unnecessary electrical equipment from 20:30 to 21:30, Saturday, March 22.
After many years of active participation, the Earth Hour campaign in Vietnam has spread strongly across the country, becoming a meaningful annual activity taking place every March.
From propaganda and awareness raising, up to now, the campaign has made an important contribution to converting awareness into concrete actions, encouraging the community to practice saving electricity, using energy efficiently and protecting the environment.
