On the morning of October 1, the Ministry of Planning and Investment hosted the 5th anniversary celebration of the National Innovation Center (NIC) and the Vietnam Innovation Day 2024 at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park. Leading the Vietnamese innovation ecosystem In his opening speech, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized that this is an opportunity to promote and strengthen connections between domestic and international enterprises, technology corporations, and research institutions through meetings, introductions, exchanges, sharing, and demonstrations of the latest technological solutions and innovative products in the fields of artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and green transformation. At the same time, this is also an opportunity to summarize and look back on the 5-year process of forming and developing NIC and 1 year of inaugurating NIC Hoa Lac facility - an important milestone, affirming the vision and continuous efforts of the Vietnamese Government in promoting innovation, contributing to the renewal of the growth model on the basis of science and technology development. The Minister said that in order to concretize the policy of the Politburo in Resolution No. 52 of 2019 on proactively participating in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, exactly 5 years ago, on October 2, 2019, NIC was established by the Prime Minister with the mission of being the nucleus to promote the development of Vietnam's innovation ecosystem, quickly seizing the "once in a thousand years" opportunity of the Fourth Industrial Revolution for Vietnam to break through and rise up. To fulfill this mission, over the past time, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has directed NIC to build a strategic vision, seize opportunities, overcome difficulties and challenges, and focus on implementing 9 key technology sectors that play a core role in the development of the world, including smart manufacturing, smart cities, digital content, cyber security, environmental technology, medical technology, semiconductor industry, green hydrogen, and artificial intelligence. Looking back on the past 5 years, the Minister said that NIC has achieved many positive results in establishing, developing, and leading the national innovation ecosystem. In particular, it has contributed to proposing additional and perfecting mechanisms, policies, and laws on innovation and startups. NIC also plays a core, pioneering, and leading role in the Vietnamese innovation ecosystem when forming and developing a complete innovation ecosystem. Especially in the key technology fields of artificial intelligence and semiconductors, making NIC in particular and Vietnam in general become trusted partners of the world's leading technology corporations and innovation centers such as SK Korea, Google, NVIDIA, Meta, Samsung... 
The Center has also proactively implemented a semiconductor human resource development program, building mutually beneficial cooperative relationships with many of the world's leading semiconductor partners such as Qorvo, ARM, Marvell, Cadence, Synosyps, NVIDIA, Siemens. "With the important results achieved, it can be affirmed that the National Innovation Center has made great strides, becoming a leading national innovation center, with stature and prestige in the region and becoming a trusted partner of many of the world's leading technology and innovation partners," the Minister emphasized. According to Mr. Dung, the above results have contributed to Vietnam's continuous improvement in the global innovation index over the past many years. Accordingly, in 2024, Vietnam will be ranked 44/133 countries and territories. "NIC's success over the past five years is not only the result of its determination and relentless efforts, but also a testament to the strategic vision, the correct and drastic direction of the Government, the Prime Minister and the coordination and support of ministries, branches, localities and the business community," Minister Nguyen Chi Dung stated. Dare to innovate, dare to think, dare to do According to the Commander of the Planning and Investment sector, we are facing great opportunities, but also many challenges. "However, challenges always come with opportunities, and we can only overcome those challenges when we dare to innovate, dare to think, dare to do," said Mr. Dung. As a strategic advisory body for socio-economic development, the Minister said that the Ministry of Planning and Investment will continue to work with ministries, branches, localities and domestic and international partners to build a strong innovation ecosystem, contributing to promoting sustainable economic growth and enhancing Vietnam's position in the international arena. "With the Party's policies and orientations and the close direction and management of the Government and the Prime Minister, we can believe in a new wave of development of the Vietnamese innovation ecosystem, in a future where when mentioning innovation, the regional and world innovation community will immediately mention Vietnam and NIC", the Minister of Planning and Investment emphasized. 
According to the Minister, the journey ahead is still long and full of challenges, but with the motto "if you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together", the Ministry of Planning and Investment will continue to closely coordinate with departments, ministries, branches and domestic and international innovation agencies and organizations to build and operate NIC effectively and successfully. Thereby, contributing to promoting innovation values for a strong and prosperous Vietnam as the goals and expectations of the Party, Government and Prime Minister have assigned. The Minister believes and is certain that, through the activities in this program, it will help technology enterprises and the innovation community connect with each other, contribute and share the values of innovation, participate in activities to "work together, enjoy together" the good results from innovation as Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh often shares, thereby contributing to building an increasingly happy and beautiful Vietnam.
