On October 5, at a regular press conference, answering reporters' questions and requesting more information about the arrest of environmental activist Hoang Thi Minh Hong and environmental expert Ngo Thi To Nhien, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated:
“We completely reject false information with bad intentions about Vietnam's crime prevention and control work as well as Vietnam's foreign relations.
We all know that information about this case has been provided to the press by the Ministry of Public Security. These are all cases of violations of Vietnamese law and have been investigated, prosecuted and tried in accordance with the provisions of Vietnamese law."
Previously, on September 28, Ms. Hoang Thi Minh Hong was sentenced to 3 years in prison by the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City for tax evasion.
Meanwhile, Ms. Ngo Thi To Nhien, Director of Vietnam Energy Transition Initiative Company Limited, was arrested for appropriating documents of an organization or agency as prescribed in Article 342 of the Penal Code.
