The Ministry of Education and Training said that after receiving feedback from a number of press agencies regarding the literature exam questions coinciding with some speculations on social networks before the exam took place, the Standing Committee of the National Steering Committee for the 2024 High School Graduation Exam requested the Exam Council to report.
The Ministry of Education and Training affirmed that the literature exam was given in accordance with the structure and format announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, with a reasonable distribution between the poetry and literature sections.

Commenting on the literature exam, Dr. Trinh Thu Tuyet, Literature teacher, Hocmai Education System, said that the structure, format and level of awareness in the questions did not have any surprises, were not difficult but also did not bring much excitement. The ability to classify the exam is still the classification of reading comprehension and text perception levels, the classification is recognized by the examiner's delicate and accurate assessment.
The reading comprehension section (3 points) is a question that asks students to recognize the content of the text, which essentially only requires them to "recognize" and copy a detail of the excerpt, which is a requirement that can be done too easily. Question 3 is a question that requires students to apply their knowledge of Vietnamese, literature, art and life to interpret the expressive and emotional value of the comparison between the flow of the river and the history of artistic creation in the excerpt.
Meanwhile, question number 4 is a high-level application question, requiring candidates to draw a lesson about lifestyle for themselves from the author's reflection in the excerpt "If we separate each drop of water from the unity of the ocean, we will only see small, lonely drops of water that gradually disappear."
Candidates will not have difficulty finding messages and lessons for their own lifestyle, which is a lesson about meaningful existence when connecting individuals with the community. This is a question that can classify students relatively well when the direction of the answer and the way of reasoning depends a lot on the students' independent thinking and self-control.
"In general, the reading comprehension questions are suitable for students, ensuring the right levels of cognition, and have practical significance for their future lifestyles," said Dr. Trinh Thu Tuyet.
Writing section (7.0 points): Maintain the familiar structure, including 2 parts: Writing a social argumentative paragraph (2.0 points) and a literary argumentative essay (5.0 points). Question 1 (2.0 points), the requirement "Write a paragraph (about 200 words) presenting your thoughts on the meaning of respecting individuality" can more or less create surprise and interest for candidates when doing the test.
