On March 14, Phuoc Ninh Ward Police (Hai Chau District, Da Nang City) handed over 4 people who wrote graffiti in public places to Hai Chau District Police for handling according to their authority. This group also tested positive for marijuana-type drugs.
Early the same morning, the Phuoc Ninh Ward night patrol team led by Phuoc Ninh Ward Police, while on duty on Le Dinh Duong Street, discovered a group of four young men spraying paint in front of house number 30 Le Dinh Duong Street.
The patrol team temporarily seized 5 spray paint cans and took all 4 people to the police station for questioning. The group admitted to defacing public places by spray painting and imitating graffiti (a form of foreign street art).
During the investigation, the police discovered that some young men in the group showed signs of drug use. The test results showed that 3 out of 4 people tested positive for drugs, including: TNT (23 years old, residing in District 11, Ho Chi Minh City), NCL (23 years old, residing in Cam Le District) and DTN (22 years old, residing in Hai Chau District, both in Da Nang City). These people admitted to using marijuana.
As Thanh Nien reported, recently, in the center of Da Nang City, graffiti has appeared in public places. In Hai Chau District, 6/13 wards have locations and areas that have been defaced. Notably, not only abandoned and unfinished constructions but also many landscape locations, art statues, and architectural works have been graffitied, causing offense and losing the urban beauty.
Youth union members from all localities have been mobilized to erase and restore the beauty of the area.
Hai Chau District People's Committee has directed the district police force and local authorities to increase patrols, ambushes, and strictly handle graffiti.
