Preserving and promoting the value of Trang An Heritage associated with the construction of Hoa Lu city

Trang An scenic complex has a total area of ​​about 12,000 hectares, located in 20 communes and wards, where there are unique, globally outstanding values ​​of nature and culture. Trang An is being made to preserve and promote the heritage value associated with the construction of the future Hoa Lu city.

The development space in the Ninh Binh Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, has identified 3 functional areas, in which the central area plays a driving role and is a breakthrough in development, namely Hoa Lu city (on the basis of merging Ninh Binh city with Hoa Lu district today) and Tam Diep city.

In general, in Hoa Lu district and Ninh Binh city, there are currently over 460 inventoried relics (accounting for over 25% of the inventoried relics in the province) of many different types. The whole region has over 100 ranked relics (accounting for over 26% of the province's ranked relics), including 76 provincial-level relics, 28 national-level relics, 3 special national-level relics, 1 world cultural and natural heritage and hundreds of intangible cultural heritages.

In that massive, diverse and rich cultural heritage system, there are many heritages of special value, creating the unique and distinctive features of this city: This is an urban area that owns the World Cultural and Natural Heritage Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex. This is the first and only mixed heritage to date in Southeast Asia, with special, globally outstanding values ​​in geology, geomorphology, and amazing natural landscapes, containing a massive, complete, rich and intact archive of documents about prehistoric humanity, demonstrating how humanity has adapted to major changes in the global environment over the past tens of thousands of years.

Trang An also has outstanding cultural and historical values, with the Bronze Age civilizations, Dong Son civilization, the place chosen to locate the capital Hoa Lu - the capital of Dai Co Viet state, the first centralized feudal state of Vietnam in the 10th century, with hundreds of temples, pagodas, shrines, palaces..., religious and belief architectural works existing in caves, stone roofs or on the mountainside in harmony with nature and with high technical and aesthetic architecture, unique traditional folk festivals bearing the cultural soul of Ninh Binh people in particular and Vietnam in general...

Proud to be a son of the historic Hoa Lu ancient capital, with his responsibility, Mr. Nguyen Minh De, Head of Truong Son village, Truong Yen commune (Hoa Lu district) and local people always actively participate in activities to preserve the cultural beauty of his homeland.

Mr. Nguyen Minh De said: For many years, Truong Yen commune has been one of the typical localities in building cultural life in residential areas and building civilized tourist spots. In particular, Truong Son village always propagates and mobilizes people to preserve and bring traditional cultural values ​​into exploitation and tourism development, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of local people and vice versa, tourism development helps those values ​​spread, penetrate deeply and promote sustainable values ​​in today's life.

In order to preserve and promote the natural and cultural values ​​of Trang An Heritage Area associated with the construction of the future Hoa Lu city, along with the policies of the province, the community living in the heritage area always preserves the cultural and natural values ​​according to international commitments and laws on cultural heritage of Vietnam, which are promoted as an important resource in the sustainable development of socio-economic fields.

Ms. Tran Thi Phuong, manager of Thung Sen tourism business (belonging to Tam Coc agricultural and tourism service cooperative), Van Lam village, Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu district said: We develop tourism associated with environmental protection, natural landscape protection; do not build concrete; organize cultural activities, experience with lotus in Thung Sen area such as lotus flower arrangement, introduce tea culture, enjoy lotus tea in the early morning, dishes of grilled chicken in lotus leaves, steamed chicken in lotus leaves, grilled snakehead fish in lotus leaves; open cooking classes according to Vietnamese culture... From there, we contribute to protecting the natural landscape of the heritage area, while creating attraction for tourists when coming to Ninh Binh.

Along with urban development, cultural values ​​are always preserved and promoted, contributing to building a city with outstanding global values ​​in culture and nature, and unique historical and cultural values ​​are preserved and promoted continuously.

Ms. Le Thi Bich Thuc, Deputy Director of the Center for Conservation of Historical and Cultural Relics of the Ancient Capital of Hoa Lu, said: The Ancient Capital of Hoa Lu is one of the three core areas of the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex. The Hoa Lu Ancient Capital Historical and Cultural Relic Site was first ranked as a National Relic Site by the Ministry of Culture in 1962; and was ranked as a Special National Relic Site by the Prime Minister in 2012. The historical and cultural vestiges remaining in the relic site are very rich and diverse, including a system of worshiping architecture, walls, and caves. In the Hoa Lu Ancient Capital area, thousands of relics and antiquities of historical, cultural, and scientific value are still preserved. Ninh Binh province currently has 5 national treasures preserved and conserved at the relic sites of the Hoa Lu Ancient Capital Relic Site.

The Center has focused on preserving and conserving traditional cultural values, protecting natural landscapes, protecting the environment, improving service quality, aiming to build people and the ancient capital of Hoa Lu into a friendly, safe and attractive destination for tourists, creating a ripple effect on domestic and international tourists." - Ms. Le Thi Bich Thuc added.
