Currently, the number of ethnic minorities in the province accounts for 25.54% of the province's population. In recent years, the socio-economic situation of ethnic minority areas has developed quite comprehensively; the rural landscape has changed significantly, the material and spiritual life of the people has been increasingly improved and enhanced; political security and social order and safety have been ensured; ethnic and religious work has been focused on, and the great national unity bloc has been consolidated and strengthened.

That result was partly thanks to the contribution of prestigious people in ethnic minority areas. They play the role of a bridge to bring the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's policies and laws to ethnic minority people so that ethnic policies can be implemented correctly and effectively; at the same time, they help the Party and the State grasp the thoughts, feelings and aspirations of ethnic minorities. Therefore, building, perfecting and promoting the role of prestigious people in ethnic minority areas is an objective requirement in implementing ethnic policies.

Mr. Do Woang Ya Guong - Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions informed: The work of reviewing, reviewing, adding, and removing from the list of prestigious people is annually deployed to each village and residential group across the province. This issue is carried out publicly, democratically, ensuring compliance with principles and procedures according to regulations.

For example, in 2024, the provincial Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religion organized 2 delegations, with 90 prestigious people in the whole province to study and exchange experiences in some provinces in the East, Southwest, Ho Chi Minh City and some provinces in the North Central and Central Coast. The content of the exchange, learning experiences, discussing the work of State management on ethnic groups, ethnic policies and listening to prestigious people in ethnic minorities with the provinces share experiences in propaganda work, mobilizing people to participate in developing socio-economic development models, preserving ethnic cultural identity, developing community tourism, building new rural areas and national solidarity... Every year, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of the province has organized visits, given gifts to prestigious people on the occasion of holidays and New Year and visited and supported prestigious people who are sick; visited prestigious people, relatives of prestigious people who passed away...

In the coming time, to further promote the role of prestigious people, departments, branches and localities need to step up the provision and dissemination of information on the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws, and local socio-economic development orientations, especially those related to ethnicity, religion, national defense, security, etc. At the same time, create more favorable conditions for prestigious people to participate in giving opinions on the development of socio-economic development programs and plans. There are policies to support operating expenses, travel expenses, health insurance regimes, etc. for prestigious people in an appropriate manner so that prestigious people have the conditions to promote their role in performing assigned tasks regarding ethnic affairs and implementing ethnic policies. At the same time, strengthen inspection and supervision work to ensure that policies for prestigious people are always properly implemented. This not only creates trust among prestigious people but also creates trust among ethnic minorities in general, contributing to creating consensus and stability in the whole society.
