On the morning of April 19, the Lam Dong Provincial People's Council, term X, 2021 - 2026, held its 14th session to consider and decide on the dismissal of a number of key positions. Accordingly, 100% of the delegates of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Council present voted to dismiss Mr. Tran Duc Quan from the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Council and delegate of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Council, term X; and to dismiss Mr. Tran Van Hiep from the position of Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee and delegate of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Council, term X.
Lam Dong Provincial People's Council, term X, dismissed Mr. Tran Duc Quan and Mr. Tran Van Hiep from the positions of Chairman of the People's Council and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
In the submission of the Standing Committee of Lam Dong People's Council, the reason for the dismissal was stated because Mr. Tran Duc Quan and Mr. Tran Van Hiep were prosecuted and temporarily detained by the Ministry of Public Security in early 2024 for their involvement in violations at the Saigon - Dai Ninh project (Duc Trong District, Lam Dong).
Both Mr. Quan and Mr. Hiep have been expelled from the Party. Mr. Tran Duc Quan and Mr. Tran Van Hiep have violated Party and State regulations and are no longer qualified to be delegates to the Lam Dong Provincial People's Council.
As Thanh Nien reported, on the evening of January 24, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency implemented the decision to prosecute and issue an order to temporarily detain Mr. Tran Duc Quan, Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, for the crime of "abusing position and power while performing official duties" related to the process of the Ministry of Public Security expanding the investigation into the case of accepting bribes and abusing position and power at the Saigon-Dai Ninh project, invested by tycoon Nguyen Cao Tri.
Previously, on January 2, Mr. Tran Van Hiep, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, was also prosecuted and temporarily detained by the Department of Police Investigation of Crimes on Corruption, Economy, and Smuggling (C03) of the Ministry of Public Security for the crime of "receiving bribes" related to the Saigon - Dai Ninh project.
