Murder due to drinking and singing karaoke in a rented room causing noise

On September 23, the People's Court of Da Nang City opened a trial of Nguyen Le Thanh Tai (37 years old, residing in Xuan Ha ward, Thanh Khe district, Da Nang city) for the crime of "Murder".

According to the indictment, at 5:00 p.m. on August 24, 2022, at room 1 of K1006 Ton Dan motel (group 28, Hoa Tho Tay ward, Cam Le district, Da Nang), Loc Hung Manh (25 years old, residing in Hai Chau district, Da Nang), La Tay Uyen (31 years old), Lu Van Ve (37 years old), La Van Diem (27 years old, all residing in Cam Le district) and Cao Quang Tuyen (42 years old, residing in Que Son district, Quang Nam province) were drinking.

At 8pm, Manh's group opened karaoke to sing. Because the group was making noise, Nguyen Le Thanh Tai (living in room 5 in the same dormitory) went to room 1 to remind them to stop singing late so that everyone could sleep and go to work tomorrow.

After saying that, Tai returned to his room while the group of young men continued to sing. Angry, Tai took a knife from his room and went to room number 1 to warn Manh's group.

At this time, a young man (currently unidentified) in Manh's group shouted "beat him to death", then the whole group rushed to beat Tai.

Being beaten, Tai fought back with a knife, stabbing Loc Hung Manh in the left chest, causing him to die on the spot.

Tai ran away but was chased out of the boarding house by Tuyen and some other people. When he saw Tai lying face down on the concrete road, Tuyen kicked Tai several times in the head, injuring him.

In court, Tai stated that he was tired after work and that it was late at night but Manh's group was still singing loudly. He had warned them many times but they did not stop, so Tai brought a knife to warn Manh's group to stop. The defendant did not intend to stab anyone.

After a comprehensive review of the case, the People's Court of Da Nang City sentenced Nguyen Le Thanh Tai to life in prison for "Murder".
