17 electric bus routes connecting metro line 1 have officially started serving people with operating hours according to the train schedule from 5am to 10pm daily.
On the morning of December 20, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport and related units organized the opening ceremony of 17 subsidized electric bus routes connecting to Metro Line 1 operating in the city.
Phuong Trang Passenger Transport Joint Stock Company - FUTA Bus Lines is the unit responsible for 17 routes with 150 pure electric buses. The newly invested vehicles have a capacity of 30 and 60 seats, helping to access residential areas that the existing bus system cannot reach to collect passengers for metro line 1.
At the same time, the bus connecting metro line 1 has its own identity and characteristics such as: the main colors are blue and yellow; the exterior color of the vehicle is stylized into wavy lines; the route number and route name are displayed by LED lights in the front and back of the vehicle.
Sunflower motifs, the typical symbol of Thu Duc City, are decorated on both sides of the bus along with the words "Electric bus", helping people to easily identify it.
Bus routes operate from 5am to 10pm daily, following metro line 1 schedule; bus intervals range from 8 to 20 minutes.
After the opening, people will be exempted from tickets for 30 days, in line with metro line 1. After that time, passengers will buy tickets for 5,000 - 6,000 VND per trip and 3,000 VND for students; a set of 30 tickets costs 112,500 VND. The elderly, disabled, children... are exempted from fees according to the city's policy.
At the ceremony, Director of the Department of Transport Tran Quang Lam said that the city has tested and found that electric vehicles are an inevitable trend. Currently, Ho Chi Minh City is building a goal that by 2030, 100% of the bus system will be electric or CNG vehicles.
